Knowing within a second whether a place is right, leaving if it is not, without having to justify it: instinct leads, and a will that setbacks revive follows it. Two physical drives then supply the means to begin and grow, wherever instinct has let things through.
An instinct with no channel in the cross
Gate 57, Intuitive Clarity, has three possible harmonic gates: Gate 10, Behavior of the Self; Gate 20, the Now; or Gate 34, Power. None of them appears in this cross, whose four gates form no channel among themselves. The instinct is not linked to the Throat, the Sacral or the G Center by the cross itself. It will be, or not, by the rest of the chart, which also says whether its signal decides or informs.
The stall packed up at seven
One spring Sunday, on the square of a small town, the secondhand dealers unpack at dawn. The sky is clear, the first buyers arrive with their flashlights.
Servane, who runs a secondhand shop in the city, has had her stall set up for an hour when she packs it up, without waiting for her first customer. She could not say what makes her leave; she only knows she has nothing more to do there.
Her fellow dealers sometimes ask her opinion on a lot. She answers yes or no, without comment, and lets them decide.
Choosing the ground, then committing to it
Knowing in a second where you feel right gives action a sure direction. The 57 supplies this immediate judgment; Gate 51, Shock, at the Personality Earth, a will that a failure sets going again instead of snuffing it out.
The two gates of the Root, Gate 53, Beginnings, then Gate 54, Ambition, then supply the means to open and grow. One more skill each year, a slightly bigger space: each step is taken on ground that instinct has let through.
Winning the debate instead of listening
When a recoil is challenged, the 51 can make it a point of honor and try to prove it was right. Yet the signal has nothing to gain from a discussion: it comes out of it weakened.
The signal does not repeat itself, and the temptation is strong to replace it with reasoning. A reason found after the fact, the weather, fatigue, ends up hiding what the body said in the moment.
The fact that the Right Angle is described as a personal destiny is no reason to keep your warnings to yourself when a fellow dealer is about to buy a dubious lot. A brief warning can be shared without taking anything away from that destiny.

It is instinct. The Spleen Center assesses the situation on the spot, without supplying an argument; leaving protects the person, it is not aimed at anyone.
Should a recoil be explained to those close to you?
You can say it without explaining it. A justification that is demanded gets fabricated; this reason of the moment soon takes up more room than the signal itself.
Can the desire to test yourself win out over a recoil of instinct?
It can: that is where the 51 costs something. The desire to test yourself does not say whether the ground is sound; when instinct has recoiled, the challenge is tried elsewhere or later.
What role do the two gates of the Root play?
They supply a physical pressure: the 53 pushes to open, the 54 to move up a notch. They do not choose the ground, which instinct points out; the chart’s authority decides on the commitment.
