Everything ends up as a story in someone with this cross: help given on a response from the gut, a venture tried with no guarantee, a wait endured without bitterness. These stories find their audience around a table, not on a stage.
A Throat waiting for its definition
The Cross of Stimulation bears the same name as Gate 56, Stimulation, placed at the Personality Sun. The Throat where this gate sits waits, to be defined, for a channel brought by the rest of the chart: the Channel of Curiosity, which the 56 forms with its harmonic gate, Gate 11, Ideas, or another one, such as the 16-48.
The fixed fate the Juxtaposition describes predicts no event: the four gates describe ways of reacting, not episodes to come.
The aunt’s story
The notions shop on the market square has kept going for thirty years thanks to the same customers. Edmond, who took it over from his aunt, knows each of them by the project she has underway.
When the town newsletter sends a writer to tell the story of the shop, Edmond can find almost nothing to say to him; ten lines come out of it.
The following Saturday, a customer asks him how his aunt held on when the supermarket opened at the edge of town. He talks for twenty minutes, about the aunt, the remnants sold by the meter on the sidewalk, the sales rep who no longer wanted to deliver. Three other customers stay to hear the end, even though they already know all the characters.
Stories for regulars
The stories of this cross have concrete material. Gate 27, Caring, at the Design Sun, supplies specific acts of care, a lining mended, an errand run; starting from a response of the Sacral, they renew themselves instead of wearing the person out.
Gate 28, the Game Player, at the Design Earth, adds games tried with no guarantee, accepted on a brief instinct, without waiting to have the odds in hand.
Gate 60, Acceptance, at the Personality Earth, gets through lulls without the desire going out.
Told to people who already know the characters, these stories do not need to be inflated to be listened to.
Help turned into habit
Help given once becomes an expectation. On the morning the body no longer responds, carrying on out of duty wears down the one who forces themselves; the care loses what made it sustainable.
A game is judged at the moment it presents itself. Calling the person who proposed it at every setback, to check that you did the right thing, amounts to replacing with discussion what the Game Player had settled.
Stories requested at every meal wear out too. Told on demand, Sunday after Sunday, they end up saying nothing more about the episode.
With an open Root, waiting takes on the pressure of others. An impatient partner can make a pause painful that Gate 60 would have let pass, and push the person to sign just to be done with it.
For you, for others
For you
Tell your stories when people ask you, and leave the rest of the time to those you take care of, yourself included.
For others
Your uncle has this cross? He will gladly tell you about his projects on hold, without you having to press him on dates. When he turns down a favor, believe him: his yes on other days was just as sincere.
Frequently asked questions about the Juxtaposition Cross of Stimulation
Does Gate 56 push you to seek novelty?
It passes on an experience by turning it into a story, and it is the audience it stimulates. Nothing in the gate describes a need for constant change.
Does a Game Player’s stake guarantee success?
No. Gate 28 accepts a game whose outcome remains unknown; instinct says whether it is worth playing, not how it will end.
Does the Game Player respond with the gut?
It responds with instinct. Gate 28 speaks from the Spleen Center, with a brief signal that judges the moment; the 27 responds from the Sacral, to a request for help. One commits the person to a game, the other to an act of care.
Does this cross suit someone reserved?
Yes: a family lunch is enough for Gate 56, which tells its stories to whoever listens, and no stage is required.
