A direction is held without justification, and the person’s work bears a mark that people recognize without a signature. Added to this are stories they never asked for and a group that sometimes asks them for its way: two directions, their own and other people’s, which must not be confused.

The road of a life, the road of a group

The 2 and the 7 both speak of direction. The 2, at the Personality Sun, holds the road of a life without basing it on reasons; the 7, at the Design Earth, looks at the road of a group searching for where to go. The two sit side by side in the same chart without merging. The 2 says where the person is going, the 7 what place a group can entrust to them: that place can be taken up and handed back without the direction moving.

Spat from the bay

When the neighboring oyster farmers switched to young oysters bought from hatcheries, Aurore kept collecting hers from the bay. To the figures people showed her, she offered no counterargument; her beds were heading that way, and she could not yet see how far.

At the Saturday market, her stall can be spotted from a distance, with its baskets stacked like a staircase, the smallest in front.

Last winter, the bay association chose her to prepare the meeting with the water commission. She held the post for a season, proposed two courses of action, then handed it back in the spring: the decision about her own beds that she had been putting off for a month could no longer wait.

A direction that leaves room

A road that rests on no argument does not give way to an objection. Those around the person can doubt the direction of the 2 without the person losing the thread.

The two Design gates make room for others without diverting this road. With the 13, whoever is speaking can get to the end of their story without defending it sentence by sentence; with the 7, a group finds a proposal just when it is looking for its own.

Guiding and listening coexist with the direction, as long as they are not mistaken for it.

Other people’s road taken for one’s own

The two directions can merge. By proposing a road to the groups that ask for one, the person ends up following the road they mapped out for them.

An open G Center makes the confusion worse. The sense of self there already tunes itself to the people around, and the group being guided is part of those people.

Nor does the direction of the 2 stand in for a decision. However clear, the direction leaves commitment to the chart’s authority, whatever it may be: selling oyster beds or signing a lease waits for its verdict.

For you, for others

For you

Each time a group asks you for its way, think back to the road you were following the day before. The two may coincide; when they diverge, your direction does not need to justify itself to stay yours.

For others

When a business partner with this cross announces a change of course she cannot explain, hear her out before discussing it. When you ask her to steer your group, make it clear that you expect a proposal, not for her to change her road for you.

Frequently asked questions about the Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx

Can you hold a direction without knowing where it leads?

Yes. Gate 2 gives a sense of heading; the destination is not part of it and is discovered along the way, as the person moves forward.

Is the person’s work recognizable?

Yes, by its mark. Gate 1, which holds the Personality Earth, gives an object or a gesture a manner that people attribute to the person before reading their name. This mark says nothing about the road the 2 is holding.

Does a personal destiny exclude other people?

No. The Right Angle denotes a personal destiny, and nothing in that meaning sets others aside. This version mixes received stories and a guiding role into its direction, without those who bring them setting the road.

What if the group is not going where the person is going?

They can propose a road they will not take themselves. The 7 points a collective toward a path, the 2 holds its own; saying so spares the group from waiting for them to follow.
