Tearing out an old kitchen before putting in a new one, removing a bandage, scrapping a procedure that has become useless in a team: these gestures of removal come to you with the same skill as gestures of building. Your tone dissolves what has served its purpose; your seal lends it hands that know how to take things apart cleanly, without needless damage. The dilemma comes down to two verbs: a Hand wants to repair, extend, get things running again, while your tone wants to release what has had its day. Faced with a worn object, a tired organization, a limping relationship, hesitation sets in between gluing back together and taking apart. You sometimes patch up what should have gone, or dismantle what a repair would have saved.
No other seal will decide for you: the Hand guides itself, with its knowledge doubled. The answer lies in the intimate knowledge your hands have of things. Hands that know how a mechanism works also know when it will no longer work, whatever you do. A Hand that guides itself learns to trust this diagnosis by touch rather than attachment or weariness.
