A precise sentence shows a hesitant group its route, when the group asks for it. The rest of the time, the words wait; it is the body that decides, between a pressure toward the unknown, care given on a yes from the gut and a flair for bets without a guarantee.
One voice and two silent responses
Gate 31, Leading, sits in the Throat, which gives voice to what the defined centers connected to it pass on. What feeds its words therefore depends on the rest of the chart.
The harmonic gate of the 31, Gate 7, Role of the Self, is in the G Center. With the 7 added, the Channel of the Alpha forms: the group then sees a guide in the person. Without it, the 31 guides one decision at a time, with no channel behind its voice.
On the Design side, Gates 27 and 28 sit in two centers that decide without going through words: the Sacral responds through the gut, the Spleen Center through a brief agreement or recoil of instinct.
The dry cleaner in the arcade
In a suburban shopping arcade, the dry cleaner also does alterations. When the mall announces six months of construction, the shopkeepers meet in the florist’s storeroom.
The president of the association asks Ilan what he would do; he suggests that each shop post in its window the list of those staying open during the work, and the idea is adopted.
In the spring, he comes back with an opinion on opening hours that no one asked him for. The opinion dies in the hallway.
In June, an elderly customer asks him if he could bring her clothes back to her home: she can no longer walk as far as the arcade. He takes the time to look at her, then answers that he will come by on Thursday, after closing.
Proposing what you have already committed to
A hesitant group receives a clear direction at the moment it asks for one. The 31 puts it into words; Gate 41, Contraction, at the Personality Earth, pushes the body out of the familiar, so the route proposed is not necessarily the one already taken.
On the Design side, the care of Gate 27, Caring, like the flair of Gate 28, the Game Player, grounds these words in actions. A favor done on a yes from the gut, a game accepted because instinct let it through: what the person proposes to others, they have already committed to themselves.
This cross belongs to the Right Angle, the angle of personal destiny.
A vacant seat
An accepted proposal soon brings a role with it. After the construction, the person is offered the presidency of the association, for lack of another volunteer, and a direction given one evening becomes a year-round position. For someone whose Sacral is defined, a responsibility taken on without a response from the gut is held up by willpower, and it wears them out.
Agreeing to do a favor because refusing would seem selfish replaces the gut’s response with an argument: help then goes out without the reserve that replenishes itself, and fatigue follows.
The instinct of the 28 can be pushed aside in the same way: a game accepted so as not to disappoint is played without anyone having chosen it.

Does the Personality Sun count more than the Design?
All four positions carry equal weight. The Design sets two gates just as the birth does, for a different moment; here, they are the ones that carry the care and the flair.
Does the 27 also wait for a group?
No: the 31 addresses a group looking for direction, the 27 responds to a precise request, from a single person if need be. The two gates do not work on the same scale.
Does the pressure of the 41 rush the words?
It can. As a tension with no object, the 41 takes the first outlet that comes along; speaking up is one. The direction of the 31 carries weight, however, when the group has asked for it, not when it serves to ease a wait.
Do the 27 and the 28 contradict each other?
One responds to a request through the gut, the other judges the moment through instinct. They can say yes together, to a risky favor, or part ways: help the gut accepts, a game instinct refuses.
