Stories arrive without being asked for; those who bring them sometimes end up wanting to know where to go. To this listening are added a course that does not try to convince and a way of doing things that signs every gesture.

Receiving without holding on

At the Personality Sun, Gate 13 brings a listening that does not depend on the G Center: defined or open, it makes no difference. None of the four gates is the harmonic gate of another, so this center waits, in order to be defined, for a channel that runs through other gates.

The 13 receives; it does not hold on. The two Personality gates concern those who speak and then the group looking for its way; the Design gates concern the person, their manner and their course. This version is a Right Angle cross, which Human Design describes as a personal destiny.

A thank-you she does not remember

One April morning, a man waits at the counter of the pharmacy in Guingamp until the other customers have left. He has come to thank Philippine for an afternoon the previous fall, when he talked to her about his father for an hour.

She remembers neither the father nor the hour, only that she had let him go all the way to the end.

Her dosage labels, handwritten in capital letters, are recognized even in the drawers of the area’s retirement homes.

When the pharmacy group asked her to switch to printed labels, she refused without trying to justify herself. She still writes them by hand.

An ear, then a proposal

Whoever talks to this person does not have to defend their story while telling it: the 13 takes it in whole. With the 7 as Personality Earth, this availability extends to the group; when it is looking for where to go, it finds a proposal with the same person.

The Design gives this listening a footing that does not come from others. The 1 makes the person recognizable by what they do, the 2 gives them a direction that needs no proof; neither depends on the stories heard.

When the stories set the course

When open, the G Center lets the person borrow their direction from those around them. For someone who receives so many stories, every conversation proposes a destination: they may catch themselves defending, in front of the group, the project of the last person they spoke with.

Listening can also turn into an obligation to guide: the one who confided their predicament then expects a solution. Only a group hands over the role of the 7: a one-on-one confidence does not make the one who received it the guide of the one who spoke.

For you, for others

For you

After a day of stories, name a decision that belongs to you, however small: it reminds you that your path has not moved because people talked to you.

For others

With someone who has this cross, you can count on being listened to; silence, however, has to be asked for. Tell them what must stay between you. Do not blame them for repeating what you had not asked them to keep to themselves.

Frequently asked questions about the Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx

Does listening so much prepare you to give advice?

Not in itself. The 13 describes a way of listening, not an opinion. Giving advice assumes someone asks for it; the moment the person can answer depends on the Strategy of their Type.

Why do others confide in this person?

Because of a listening that lets people finish, that of Gate 13, and not because of a love of conversation: people talk just as readily to someone quiet as to a chatterbox, as long as they do not interrupt.

Do you choose whom you lend an ear to?

The stories arrive unrequested; welcoming them remains a choice. Asking the other person whether they want advice or only to be heard, then saying when there is no room, takes nothing away from the gate.

Does the manner of Gate 1 get lost from so much listening?

It remains in the chart. With an open G Center, however, the person may adopt the style of those they listen to; remembering what people recognized in them before these encounters helps them find their own style again.
