Keeping a loyal client, renewing a partnership that works, dropping a habit that no longer serves: these choices all raise the same question, that of what deserves to continue.
A center of the moment judging what comes next
The Spleen Center is not a motor. It pushes nothing, it warns, and its signal applies only to the present moment, healthy or not.
Gate 32 raises a question of continuation there. Can what is in place carry on, or should it be let go? Instinct answers at the moment the question arises, every time it comes back.
The push comes from elsewhere. In the Root, a center whose pressure sets the body in motion, Gate 54 adds the drive to rise. With it, Gate 32 forms 32-54, the Channel of Transformation.
Without Gate 54, Gate 32 has no channel and defines nothing. The 16-48 channel can define the Spleen Center in its place; on its own, it makes a Projector with Splenic Authority, for whom the question of continuity runs through the deciding center.
The January contracts
Every January, Thierry, a garage owner, decides whether or not to renew his contracts with his suppliers. He goes over the figures again, but the decision is made elsewhere: the moment the sales rep walks into the workshop, he knows whether they will carry on.
This year, the tire supplier he has worked with since opening makes him the same offer as usual. Nothing to fault on paper; and yet a slight recoil. He does not renew and could not say why.
Conversely, a small paint company he had found too modest gives him, from the first handshake, the feeling that they will be able to work together. He signs for a year.
Keeping what is healthy
What continues has been judged healthy at the moment the question arose, not renewed out of habit: each renewal becomes a chance to sort.
A modest project that others consider outdated can be kept when instinct approves of it. The gate also protects what works.
If Gate 54 joins the chart, the drive to rise goes through this sorting in turn: each step climbed has first been approved by instinct.
When the chart’s Authority is Splenic, this signal decides. If the Sacral or the Solar Plexus is defined, it informs without deciding.
Continuing for reassurance
When the Spleen Center is open, the question of Gate 32 is easily distorted. Continuing is reassuring; the person keeps a job or a relationship that no longer does them any good, because leaving would wake up a fear that the situation keeps at bay.
A recoil ignored on renewal day does not come back the next day. Having ignored it, you renew by default, until the next renewal date.
A Generator whose gut decides may lean on Gate 32 to cut short a collaboration without consulting the gut. The recoil of instinct deserves to be heard; the Sacral’s response, to a question asked directly, is still the one that decides.
A Projector whose instinct approves of a long-standing collaboration may keep it going when no one invites them anymore. They go on advising a team that no longer asks them for anything, and bitterness sets in.
For you, for others
For you
When it is time to renew a contract or a habit, give your first impression a second before going back over the figures. What it says applies to that day: listen to it before the day is gone.
For others
When this person decides not to renew something that seemed to be working, ask them what they noticed in the first instant rather than their reasons. Their arguments will come after the fact and will count for less.
Frequently asked questions about Gate 32: Continuity
Does Gate 32 hold back all change?
No. Gate 32 judges what can continue, which also means letting go of what no longer can. Its channel is called the Channel of Transformation, after all.
Can an in-the-moment instinct judge what should continue?
Yes, provided the question is asked again each time renewal comes up. The Spleen Center says whether a situation is healthy now; continuity is built from one of these moments to the next.
Does Gate 32 help predict the future?
No. The center of Gate 32 does not look to the future: it only says whether the present situation is healthy. A forecast calls for other tools.
Can instinct be confused with fear of change?
Yes, and the difference lies in the timing. The alert of instinct concerns the moment and then falls silent. A worry that comes back every time you think about tomorrow does not come from it; with an open Spleen Center, it may also come from other people.
