The Mayan Tzolkin calendar assigns every person a unique galactic signature at birth — a combination of a solar seal and a galactic tone that reveals your cosmic archetype, life energy, and soul mission. Enter your birth date to discover yours instantly.

What Is a Mayan Kin?

The Mayan Kin is your personal signature within the Tzolkin — the sacred 260-day calendar used by the ancient Maya and revived by José Argüelles in the Dreamspell system. The Tzolkin combines 20 solar seals with 13 galactic tones, creating 260 unique archetypes.

Unlike the Gregorian calendar, the Tzolkin is not based on astronomy but on the mathematics of consciousness. Each combination of seal and tone describes a specific quality of energy — your cosmic archetype, gifts, challenges, and life mission.

Your Kin number (1 to 260) is calculated from your exact birth date. It never changes and acts as a permanent galactic address within the Tzolkin wheel.

How Is the Mayan Kin Calculated?

The Dreamspell system calculates your Kin by counting the days since a reference date and applying modular arithmetic within the 260-day Tzolkin cycle. Importantly, the Dreamspell does not count February 29th (leap days), keeping the calendar synchronized with the solar cycle.

Our calculator uses this exact Dreamspell method, verified against mayankin.com reference charts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Mayan Kin the same as the Maya horoscope?

Not exactly. The Mayan Kin comes from the Tzolkin, a 260-day calendar, while traditional Maya astrology used multiple calendars. The Dreamspell focuses on the Tzolkin as a tool for self-understanding.

Why does the Dreamspell skip February 29?

José Argüelles designed the Dreamspell to exclude leap days so the calendar stays synchronized with the sun's 365-day cycle. This is a deliberate design choice, not an error.

What is the difference between Kin and the traditional Tzolkin?

The traditional Maya Tzolkin uses a different correlation (the GMT constant) and counts continuously including leap days. The Dreamspell is Argüelles' modern interpretation using a different starting reference. Our calculator uses the Dreamspell system.

Can I calculate someone else's Kin?

Yes — enter their birth date in the calculator above. Many people use this to understand the energetic patterns between themselves and others.
