Fragments of the past come back in no order and serve as material long before they make sense. On the Design side, a recurring cadence and an urge to try things turn them into work, session after session.
A memory without its harmonic gate
The 64, Confusion, stirs up in the Head lived moments that still lack meaning. Gate 47, Realization, which completes the 64, sits in the Ajna and is missing from the cross: the Channel of Abstraction, which would give these images a place to take shape, requires the 47 to come from elsewhere in the chart.
The 63, Doubt, is the other Head gate the cross contains. The two share the center without forming a channel between them, each having its harmonic gate in the Ajna: memory and question live side by side without completing each other.
A mosaic floor
In the entrance hall of an old public bathhouse, a mosaic floor has been waiting since the winter, lifted in numbered panels. Eugénie restores it in sessions, on Wednesdays.
While she sorts the tesserae, moments from her apprenticeship come back in no order: a mortar that did not set properly, the voice of an elderly mosaicist, a job site in the rain.
She does not classify them. One Wednesday, one of them, a gesture her master used to wedge a tessera, helps her redo a joint that was resisting. She could not say why that particular memory came back that day.
When the building’s caretaker asks her where the gesture comes from, she answers that she does not know. A nice story comes to mind; she does not tell it, since she cannot check it.
The past as material
The 64 can tolerate fragments that stay unconnected. The past becomes a reserve from which to draw a gesture, an image, a way of doing things, without requiring it to explain itself. The 63, at the Earth, keeps the first story that comes along from settling in: whatever will be told about this past will have stood up to questions.
The 35 and the 5, on the Design side, turn this material into a project. An urge to try something gets voiced, then a recurring session gives it time to become a skill.
Examining too soon
The 63 can go after the images of the 64 before they have been of use. Each memory is dated, challenged, cross-checked, and the connection that would have been useful no longer finds room.
The pressure of the Head also pushes toward conclusions. A story told to others too soon takes the place of the memories themselves, and the person ends up believing what they have told.
With a defined Sacral, waiting to understand one’s own story before responding to a proposal lets slip what the gut had already accepted.

Yes. The 64 does not require scenes to connect before they can be of use: a gesture or an image can be taken up as is; their meaning can wait.
Does the doubt of the 63 damage memory?
It can rush the meaning, not erase it. An image challenged too soon stays in memory; it waits until people stop demanding that it account for itself.
Is this version like the other Crosses of Consciousness?
It shares their four gates, and their angle: a personal destiny, that of the Right Angle. What sets it apart is the gate of its Personality Sun: with the 64, the cross starts from the past and its images, which the other three gates examine, turn into a project and give a rhythm to.
Does the Sacral of the 5 support this work on the past?
When it is defined, yes: the 5, on the Design side, supplies a capacity for work that returns at the same times, and slow work moves forward in sessions. When open, it borrows this energy from those around; chosen breaks then help it last.
