Willpower and its wave
The 40 sits in the Heart, the center of willpower; the 37 in the Solar Plexus, the center of emotions. Joined in the Channel of Community, they tie the effort given to loved ones to a wave of mood. The willpower may be ready while the desire to help rises and falls; it is this desire that gives the commitment its moment. A cradle for the month of May
Wilfried is a carpenter. One Sunday in January, his sister asks him whether he could make a cradle for the baby she is expecting in June. He says nothing that day. Ten days later, he calls her: the answer is yes, delivered in May.
He works on it in the evenings, in the workshop, one piece after another; until May, he turns down any other evening work.
On delivery, he shows his brother-in-law the two screws to tighten once the wood has moved, then has him give the first turn of the screwdriver in front of him. The cradle was in the bedroom on May 2.
Help that took its time
Help that has had time to ripen is given without counting the cost: the 40 commits fully once the yes has come, and the 37 makes it the business of one particular bond.
The craft gains the patience of the 9, which keeps at the work until the last piece.
The 16 knows how to say or show the useful detail, at the moment when the person receiving it can make use of it.
One favor too many
A season of saying yes to everything drains the willpower, even with a defined Heart. Wilfried went straight from the cradle to a friend’s staircase; on the second job, he was counting the hours. The friend noticed.
Time alone can also be sacrificed out of guilt. Without it, the next promise is kept reluctantly; the resentment targets the people being helped.
Doing something for a loved one sometimes saves you from showing them how. The person who asked how to put up a shelf finds it already up, without having learned anything: the 40 has taken the place of the 16.

Anywhere someone needs it. The 16 shows itself in a gesture or in words, the 9 settles on any accepted task: an accountant with this cross can live it in front of a spreadsheet just as a carpenter does at the workbench.
Does time apart distance the person from friends?
Not when it is announced: the people around know the person will come back. If it is never explained, it ends up wearing on them, and people stop counting on the person or inviting them.
