Before it has a form, a desire for experience arrives, then goes through highs and lows that end up making it readable. When it holds and an opportunity meets it, the gut commits; years of practice turn it into a craft.

A desire with no push of its own

Gate 30, Recognition of Feelings, at the Personality Sun, has its harmonic gate in the Root: Gate 41, Contraction. Together, they would form the Channel of Recognition. The Solar Plexus, then defined, would make the chart’s authority emotional, whatever the rest.

If Gate 41 were the only gate added to the cross, the chart would be that of a Projector with Emotional Authority.

Without this channel, the desire of the 30 looks for an experience whose object is not set in advance. Its form is discovered along the way.

The hillside walls

For three years, a history teacher has been talking about learning a trade with his hands, without knowing which one. He tried woodworking for a term, then cooking; the desire kept coming back, no workshop suited him.

In the spring, the association that rebuilds the dry stone walls on the hillside is looking for someone to sort the fallen stones. Octave replies the next day that he will come. Two years later, he sets a through-stone almost as quickly as the retired mason who took him in, and the volunteers who arrived after him choose their stones the way he chooses his.

From a desire to a craft

A desire with no object ends up finding its form, then that form becomes a craft. The 30 leads the way: it looks for an experience whose nature it does not yet know, and the highs and lows of the Solar Plexus separate what passes from what stays.

Placed at the Earth, Gate 29, Saying Yes, turns the recognized desire into a commitment; the Sacral follows this yes without needing to be prompted again.

The years of practice are recorded in the two Design gates. Gate 14, Power Skills, draws a skill from them; Gate 8, Contribution, makes it visible to whoever works alongside.

A desire mistaken for a decision

When open, the Solar Plexus lends the 30 other people’s intensity: a desire born in a group’s enthusiasm loses its color as soon as the group disperses. Octave thought he wanted to go dig at an archaeological site after a dinner with colleagues; alone, the next day, nothing was left of it.

Personal destiny: such is the meaning of the Right Angle. Taken as a license, this meaning would turn every desire into a decision; yet the decision belongs to the chart’s authority, which any defined Solar Plexus makes emotional.

For you, for others

For you

Welcome each desire as many times as it comes back, without asking it for its form yet. The day a concrete proposal meets it, your gut will tell you whether it commits.

For others

When someone close to you with this cross talks to you about a project, ask how long they have been thinking about it. A desire from yesterday can wait for your help; a desire that has been coming back for months deserves it.

Frequently asked questions about the Right Angle Cross of Contagion

Does a desire with no precise object deserve to be listened to?

Yes. The desire of the 30 aims at an experience before knowing which one; it is by coming back, mood after mood, that it finds its form.

How do you recognize a lasting desire?

By how long it lasts through changing moods. One that comes back the same on a lively day and on a tired day holds; one that fades at the first dip belonged to the mood of the moment.

What role does the 14 play in a project launched by desire?

It gives it duration: the strength the Sacral puts into an accepted project becomes, over the years, know-how. Without a response from the gut, effort does not become skill.

What does Gate 8 ask in return for its contribution?

Nothing in particular. The contribution of the 8 has succeeded when someone takes it up; no thanks are attached to it.
