Help is decided in the gut, bets by instinct. What they lead to is kept for a long time before it is told; the need they leave behind, on the other hand, is voiced as soon as it has found its words.
Four centers, four missing harmonic gates
The cross and its Gate 27 share the same name, Caring. Its four gates sit in four different centers, the Sacral, the Spleen Center, the Root and the Throat, and none of them has its harmonic gate in the cross: this Juxtaposition, with its fixed fate, forms no channel on its own.
The channel Gate 33, Privacy, would form with its harmonic gate, Gate 13, the Listener, in the G Center, is the Channel of the Prodigal: confidences received ripen there before coming back out.
The snack bar across from the construction site
Hakim has run a snack bar near the Valence train station for twelve years; he knows his regulars’ schedules and their children’s first names. When a taxi driver tells him he is going into the hospital for three weeks, Hakim only asks what he is not allowed to eat, then has his nephew bring him a meal every day at noon.
The following year, the station announces eighteen months of construction and an entrance moved to the other side of the tracks. Two neighboring shopkeepers close up for good. Hakim spends a morning in front of the construction barriers, watches where travelers will walk, and decides to stay open; no one can tell him whether the customers will follow.
Care that starts over every time
Concrete care can circulate without keeping count, because it starts over, with each request, from a gut response. The 27 offers it to a regular as readily as to a stranger, without forgetting the person who gives it; Gate 28, the Game Player, at the Personality Earth, agrees to stay in a game whose ending nobody knows, when instinct has let it through.
Gate 19, Wanting, names a need precisely enough for someone close to respond to it, instead of letting a vague unease hang in the air. Gate 33, Privacy, lets what the person has been through ripen; the story that comes out of it later has shed what belonged only to the person.
None of these gates waits for another. Care does not need the story in order to set out; nor does the need wait for the story to be ripe.
Loyalty that wears you out
An open Sacral makes the care of the 27 draw on other people’s energy. The service holds as long as the room is full, then the person goes home drained without understanding where the exhaustion comes from.
Attached for a long time to the same people, a 4/1 can, out of loyalty, keep up help that the gut has stopped granting. The meal brought every day then becomes a debt that no response sustains anymore.
For you, for others
For you
Save your help for the requests your gut responds to, even when they come from a friend of twenty years: a no said in time spares the friendship better than a meal brought reluctantly.
For others
When an old friend has this cross, offer your help in return, in a concrete form: an evening, a favor, a ride. Their story will come later; do not ask for it in exchange.
Frequently asked questions about the Juxtaposition Cross of Caring
What does the 28 do with a project brought by someone close?
It bets on it or holds back, depending on whether instinct has let the game through. The care of the 27 responds to other requests, concrete ones, through the gut: helping a cousin does not oblige you to invest in his business.
Is the silence of the 33 hiding something?
Nothing is hidden: the experience is simply not ready to be told yet. Someone close who insists gets a short answer; someone who is patient ends up hearing the story.
Can the 19 ask on behalf of others?
It describes a need looking to be voiced, without specifying whose it is. An open Root can, in fact, take a loved one’s need for its own; checking where the request comes from avoids asking for the wrong thing.
What is Gate 27 missing without Gate 50?
A safeguard. With the 50, Values, in the Spleen Center, the 27 would form the Channel of Preservation, where care receives a warning when it starts to harm the one giving it. Without it, the limit comes from the chart’s authority.
