An image comes, then another, without any of them asking to become a project. For the person with this cross, they keep company with a body engaged in a long task; they turn into words when a conversation beckons to them.

An outlet in stories

The only harmonic gate of Gate 11 is Gate 56, Stimulation, in the Throat. When present in the chart, it joins the 11 to form the Channel of Curiosity, which gives images an outlet in stories told aloud. The 12, which also sits in the Throat, has no channel connection with the 11: it governs the moment to speak, for images as for everything else.

This cross and Gate 11, Ideas, share the same name. The Juxtaposition, its angle, is described as a fixed fate; it also makes those who have it a bridge between the Right Angle and the Left Angle.

Thirty kilometers of white lines

Jérôme repaints the white lines on local roads. This summer, his crew is redoing a thirty-kilometer stretch of secondary road; two coworkers asked for another assignment after a week, but he wanted to finish. Bent over the machine, he advances a few kilometers a day without wondering what the task is for: the work has absorbed him.

Images come to him as he rolls along at walking pace: white stripes that would spell out the name of the next village in Morse code, a crosswalk drawn like a keyboard. He keeps them to himself.

He only mentions them at the end-of-job drinks, when the conversation dies down between two rounds. The Morse code makes the table laugh; the idea goes no further.

Images, a body, a moment

The 11 gives images free of any follow-through, valuable for what they open up more than for what they produce.

The 46 holds to a path on its side: a long task finds in this person someone who goes all the way, as long as the body feels good in it.

The 12 chooses the moment to speak, and the 25 welcomes whatever the day brings, monotonous hours and surprises alike. Told to those who are waiting for them, the images entertain without committing anyone.

A sentence that comes too late

The 46 holds to the path once the body is engaged; if that body no longer finds its place there, constancy turns into habit, and the desire to stay no longer proves that the task is right.

The 12 can also wait too long. An image that would have helped a team at the moment of a choice stays on hold for lack of an opening. It only comes out afterward, when no one has any use for it anymore.

For you, for others

For you

Let your images come without looking for a use for them. Your body, for its part, can see a long task through as long as it feels good in it.

For others

When a coworker has this cross, do not pull him out of a long task to ask whether he is bored: his body is absorbed in it, and that is precisely where his ideas come to him.

Frequently asked questions about the Juxtaposition Cross of Ideas

Does thinking about something else while working harm the task?

Not according to this cross. The 11 brings images without demanding any particular attention; meanwhile, the 46 keeps the task going.

What is left of an image that leads nowhere?

The pleasure of having thought it. The 11 expects nothing from its images; the 12 lets out the ones a conversation calls for, and the others pass by without harm.

Does the path held by the 46 assume a goal?

No. The direction appears along the way, once the body is absorbed in the task; the goal shows itself afterward, or never.

What does a team gain from having someone with this cross?

A person who sees long tasks through and who, now and then, slips in an image no one was expecting. They make no promise of it; the team takes it for what it is.
