Loving a person, a place or a profession means loving something specific. Another kind of love chooses no object: it is directed at existence as a whole, the unexpected included.
A love that takes the shocks
Universal love has no recipient. The G Center brings together several forms of love, each tied to a gate: love of self runs through Gate 10, love of humanity through Gate 15, love of the body through Gate 46. Gate 25 holds the one aimed at life taken as a whole, not at a person or a goal.
A shock puts this love to the test without contradicting it. Gate 51, Shock, belongs to the Heart, a motor that supplies willpower; with it, Gate 25 forms 25-51, the Channel of Initiation, the only channel between the G Center and the Heart. What shakes things up there is not an objection to life: it is part of what the Spirit of the Self loves about it.
A canceled flight, a flooded cellar
Gaëlle’s flight out of Lisbon is canceled. While the passengers besiege the desk, she asks a staff member where to eat in the neighborhood and ends the evening watching a street concert. Back home, it is mostly the concert she talks about.
Marc, retired, greets the mail carrier by name and stops at building sites to watch the cranes. His children think he is all over the place; he does not see why a Tuesday should be worth less than a Sunday. The day his cellar floods, he bails out the water with a basin, grumbling, then drops by the neighbors’ to ask how they are coping. The flood annoyed him without taking away his taste for whatever happens.
Loving without a plan
The Spirit of the Self lets a person love life without demanding that it follow a plan. A project that fails, an encounter that comes to nothing, remain pieces of existence the person can stay interested in.
The people around them find a presence that does not sort the news: a success and a disaster are both received as things that happen in life.
With Gate 51, this love no longer settles for welcoming what comes: it goes out looking for it.
Loving everything doesn’t tell you what to do
Loving existence as a whole does not tell you what to do with your Saturday. Direction and decisions come through the Strategy of the Type and the Authority of the chart, which the gate does not replace.
“It’s all part of life”: the idea helps you receive the unexpected, then becomes a trap when it serves as a reason to accept everything. A Generator who says yes to every offer, since nothing seems worth turning down, puts their energy where their gut had chosen nothing; frustration settles in quietly.
For a Manifestor, the pull toward the unknown moves fast. A departure announced the night before, or not at all, catches those close to them off guard; if they try to hold the Manifestor back, anger rises.

Does loving existence prevent anger?
