In front of a boss as in front of a stranger, some ways of acting don’t shift. They don’t seek approval and don’t adjust to the audience: they come from who the person is.
One way of behaving, three outlets
Depending on which partner joins Gate 10, the love of self that Human Design links to it comes out in a different place. With Gate 20, The Now, in the Throat, it forms the 10-20, the Channel of Awakening: the way of being is expressed in the moment. With Gate 34, Power, in the Sacral, the 10-34, the Channel of Exploration, gives behavior the backing of working energy. With Gate 57, Intuitive Clarity, in the Spleen Center, the 10-57, the Channel of Perfected Form, tunes conduct to what instinct judges safe in the moment.
This love of self lives in the G Center along with the gate: acting in keeping with who you are, without waiting for anyone to validate it. Each channel opens an outlet for it without changing its nature.
Its three partners share its peculiarity: each of the four gates belongs to three channels, and all of them can connect to one another. In a chart limited to Gate 10 and two others, a channel therefore forms between those two. With Gates 20 and 34 comes the 20-34, the Channel of Charisma: Manifesting Generator, Sacral Authority. With Gates 20 and 57 comes the 20-57, the Channel of the Brainwave; with no motor in the trio, the person is a Projector with Splenic Authority. With Gates 34 and 57 comes the 34-57, the Channel of Power: Generator, Sacral Authority.
The same jacket everywhere
At his cousin’s wedding, Denis keeps on the corduroy jacket he wears to the office and dances with the same clumsiness as at twenty. His mother had suggested a suit. He thanked her, then kept the jacket.
At work, some people criticize him for speaking to the director in the same tone as to the intern. He means no provocation by it: adjusting his way of being to the other person’s rank would take an effort he sees no point in.
Denis also has Gate 34. When a friend suggested reviving the town’s film club with her, his gut responded before his head did. He introduces the screenings the way he dresses, in his own way.
Behavior you can count on
Gate 10 makes behavior predictable. The people close to them know how the person will carry themselves in a new situation, because their way of acting comes from who they are and not from what is expected of them.
The love of self associated with this gate has nothing to do with self-indulgence: it consists of not betraying yourself in order to please.
When others try to hold them back
A remark about how they do things, a request to fall into line: anger rises. A Manifestor with Gate 10 is exposed to this, for example when their chart combines the 10-20 and the 25-51. The Heart, a motor, reaches the Throat there through the G Center; the Authority is Ego Authority.
Such a person acts as they are, without asking permission; the people close to them discover the decision once it’s made and try to slow it down. According to the system, anger signals to this Type that they have met resistance.
Announcing what they are going to do doesn’t require them to change their behavior. Once told, the people close to them have time to get used to it: less pushback, fewer occasions for anger.
