Channel of Judgment

Chart authorityEmotional, Sacral or Splenic
Before the conversation has even started, the eye has landed on the crooked shelf and the hand wants to straighten it. This channel combines a pressure to live fully with the urge to correct whatever can be corrected, in oneself as in others.
A pressure that looks for the flaw
Gate 58, Vitality, which the system associates with the urge to live to the full, is in the Root, a motor and pressure center. Gate 18, Correction, is in the Spleen Center, the center of the instinct that judges the moment.
The Root is a motor, but this channel stops it at the Spleen Center, one step from the Throat. A chart that has only this channel remains a Projector’s; without a defined Solar Plexus or Sacral, its decisions go through the Spleen Center. If the 20-57 then connects the Spleen Center to the Throat, the pressure finds an outlet and the Type becomes Manifestor. With the 9-52, which defines the Sacral, it is a Generator with Sacral Authority. In the circuit classification, it belongs to the Collective, Logic sub-circuit, alongside the 5-15 and the 17-62, among others.
Opened for one line, closed three hours later
In a neighborhood association, the new treasurer takes over the accounts. He opens the file to check a single line and closes it three hours later, the layout redone, two calculation errors corrected. Nobody had asked him to do anything.
The Root supplies the push, the Spleen Center points to the spot. The flaw jumps out without analysis, as the system describes it for this center: a judgment of the moment that gives no reasons. The pressure needs to discharge; the flaw gives it something to grip.
For deciding, if the Sacral and the Solar Plexus stay undefined, Splenic Authority settles things at first contact. The treasurer knows on opening the file whether taking it on is good for him. What he thinks about it an hour later, head buried in figures, counts for less.
What’s worth correcting
A team benefits from having someone who sees what can be improved. The channel doesn’t let approximation slip through: a procedure that wastes time, a text that wasn’t properly proofread, a tool that’s badly adjusted.
The name of Gate 58, Vitality, shows in the result: a better-designed community garden or a better-organized party benefits everyone who takes part.
In a reviewing or checking role, the channel finds a use that people around them easily recognize. The meticulous treasurer becomes the one entrusted with the following year’s budget.
When criticism is asked for, it is welcomed. If the chart is a Projector’s, a requested opinion that improves a project earns the person recognition: that is the path to success, the Signature of this Type.
Everything needs fixing
A correction doesn’t extinguish the Root’s pressure. The eye immediately finds the next flaw, even in other people’s affairs, and the list never ends.
An accurate remark, made to someone who didn’t ask for it, comes across as a reproach. The spouse who finds his shelves reorganized mainly understands that he had arranged them badly.
Judgment can turn against oneself. The same standard is then applied to personal work, until all you can see in it is what’s missing. An almost finished project stays in a drawer.
Under pressure, the mind takes back control from instinct. It draws up an inventory of everything that’s wrong instead of listening to the signal of the moment, which may have said to leave things as they are.
For you, for others
For you
A remark you were asked for carries further than one made unprompted: your eye sees accurately, so give it that moment. Your own work deserves the same leniency as a friend’s.
For others
A flaw pointed out by this person is about the work, not about you. Ask for their view on what you want to improve, and tell them clearly what needs no touching up.
Frequently asked questions about the Channel of Judgment
Does seeing other people’s flaws mean you have to point them out?
The person will see the flaw anyway: the Root’s pressure and the Spleen Center’s judgment point it out to them effortlessly. The moment to say it, on the other hand, is a choice: when requested, a remark helps; made unprompted, the same remark hurts.
Why can a channel connected to a motor give a Projector?
Type depends on the link between a motor and the Throat, or on the definition of the Sacral. The 18-58 connects the Root to the Spleen Center, which doesn’t touch the Throat without another channel.
What do the 18-58 and the 16-48 have in common?
Their Gates 18 and 48 are both in the Spleen Center. The system places the two channels in the same sub-circuit, Logic, in the Collective group. Together in a chart, they extend the Root to the Throat: the Type becomes Manifestor, and Authority stays Splenic if neither the Sacral nor the Solar Plexus is defined.
Who decides whether to take on an overhaul?
The chart’s Authority decides. If it’s Splenic, it responds at first contact with the file; if it’s Emotional, with the 19-49 added for example, it asks you to let the wave pass before committing to an overhaul. The number of flaws spotted, for its part, doesn’t say whose task it is.
