Chart authorityEmotional, Sacral or Splenic
At the first chord, the guitarist in an amateur band hears that the bass is out of tune. He says so before the others have worked out where the discomfort was coming from. What he knows how to do comes out in the moment, in words or gestures.
A pathway without motor power
Gate 48, Depth, belongs to the Spleen Center, which the system associates with instinct and awareness of the moment. Gate 16, Skills, is a Throat gate, the center through which what a person experiences becomes audible or visible.
The Spleen Center isn’t a motor. The 16-48 therefore connects the Throat to a center without motor power; on its own, it gives a Projector’s chart with Splenic Authority. The Type changes when a motor joins the chain. With the 18-58, which brings the Root to the Spleen Center, the Root’s pressure finds a passage to the Throat through the Spleen Center: the Type becomes Manifestor. With the 34-57, the Sacral connects to it: the result is a Manifesting Generator with Sacral Authority. Authority has only three possible outcomes: Emotional as soon as the Solar Plexus is defined, Sacral when the Sacral is defined without it, Splenic in all other cases.
In terms of circuitry, the 16-48 belongs to the Collective group, Logic sub-circuit. Six other channels share it, from the 4-63 to the 18-58.
The corrected sauce
In a restaurant kitchen, a kitchen hand tastes a sauce and adjusts the seasoning without checking the recipe card. The chef asks him why. The answer is slow in coming, then arrives in a jumble. The move was right.
This gap comes from the Spleen Center, which judges what presents itself without supplying its reasons. To the person speaking, what comes out seems obvious. To those watching, it looks like a knack.
The decision follows the same route when the Solar Plexus and the Sacral both stay undefined. The answer is a brief yes or no, at first contact, which thinking quickly covers over if allowed to. The kitchen hand knows from the first hour of service whether the job suits him; the inner debates of the following days add nothing.
With no defined Sacral and no motor connected to the Throat, the Type is Projector, and their know-how carries better when they’re asked for it. The remark about the sauce, slipped in unasked, offends the chef. The same remark, requested on a rush night, saves the service.
A talent that hits the mark
Lived according to the chart, the channel puts at others’ service an accuracy that needs no demonstration. A mechanic who listens to an engine running and knows where to look, a proofreader who spots the faulty line at a glance: the skill appears as soon as the situation calls for it, with no visible preparation.
Gate 16 doesn’t specify which talent is involved: cooking or mechanics suit it equally well. In the amateur band, they hand the guitarist the instruments before every concert so he can tune them.
Talent waiting for proof
The mind can demand a justification before letting the Throat speak. The intuition then stays stuck while arguments are found: the kitchen hand who first wants to know why the sauce lacks salt lets it go out to the dining room as it is.
A correction thrown out on the fly can also hurt. Right in substance, it arrives without tact, in front of witnesses. The person receiving it mostly remembers the affront. The know-how then loses the hearing it would have deserved.
For a Projector, showing off their know-how at every turn, to prove what they’re capable of, wears the person out without earning them the recognition they hope for. Bitterness, the Not-Self Theme of this Type, is the price.
For you, for others
For you
Your know-how comes out better in the moment than prepared in advance. If your Authority is Splenic, the brief answer that comes to you on the spot is worth more than the one you’ll build in the evening. When your chart is a Projector’s, wait until you’re asked for your perspective.
For others
Ask this person for their opinion when the question comes up, on the spot: the answer will be more accurate than a note prepared the night before. An explanation that arrives in a jumble after a right move doesn’t call the move into question.
Frequently asked questions about the Channel of the Wavelength
What Type do you get with the 16-48 and no other channel?
A Projector, with Splenic Authority. The chart changes Type as soon as a Sacral is defined or a motor connects to the Throat: the 9-52, by defining the Sacral, makes it a Generator’s; the 21-45, which connects the Heart to the Throat, a Manifestor’s.
Is the 16-48 just for artists?
No. Gate 16 is called Skills without saying which ones; Gate 48, Depth, doesn’t refer to any profession. A plumber can have this channel just as much as a violinist.
Which channels connect the Spleen Center to the Throat?
Only two: the 16-48 and the 20-57. The second starts from Gate 57, Intuitive Clarity, and ends at Gate 20, The Now.
Is the body’s first yes still the guide when the Solar Plexus is defined?
For deciding, no. A Solar Plexus defined by another channel, the 30-41 for example, makes Authority Emotional: still a Projector, the chart then calls for waiting until the end of the wave before committing. The know-how, for its part, keeps showing itself in the moment.
