Read in the morning, an idea becomes a story told at the dinner table that evening, with its detours and its effect. What the mind gathers comes out as a story, for the pleasure of seeking and sharing.

Ideas that ask to be told

Gate 11, Ideas, is in the Ajna, the center where Human Design places the mind that gives things form; it supplies images and thoughts that commit to nothing. Gate 56, Stimulation, belongs to the Throat; the system attributes to it a way of speaking that goes through storytelling. The channel therefore brings these ideas out as stories.

The channel touches no motor. On its own in a chart, the 11-56 makes a Projector with Mental Authority, the Ajna being the only one of its two centers that counts in the order of authorities. Beyond that, it imposes almost nothing: with the 35-36, the chart becomes a Manifestor with Emotional Authority. Only the Reflector and Lunar Authority remain impossible. Its circuit is the Collective, with no sub-circuit specified.

The evening of stories

Back from Iceland, a man tells of the storm that cut off the road, then of the farmer who put them up and his way of counting sheep. His friends couldn’t say everything that happened during the trip. They listened for an hour without noticing the time go by.

The channel looks for things to tell. An article, a conversation overheard on the train, a documentary watched late at night: anything can become material.

With no motor behind them, these words have no way of imposing their moment. For a Projector, they carry when someone asks: “So, how was the trip?” Launched in the middle of a conversation that was heading elsewhere, the same story falls flat.

With Mental Authority, it’s better to take a choice into a different setting before making it: go and see the city where the job is offered, spend a day there. The way the person then describes what they saw says more than their list of arguments.

Seeking for the pleasure of it

This curiosity has no practical aim. It goes to see how a canal lock works or what sailors used to eat, then brings back what it found in a form that makes others want to go and look for themselves.

In a group, it links today’s question to a story read elsewhere, and the discussion takes off again.

Storytelling also passes things on. A museum guide who tells stories instead of listing facts makes her group remember what an information panel would have let slip.

Too many stories

Curiosity scatters easily. Ten books started on the bedside table, writing projects never picked up again: the channel supplies the ideas, not the will to see them through.

The mind goes astray when it’s entrusted with a life decision. The Ajna draws conclusions from what it takes in that look like certainties, right or wrong; a good story supplies them easily. A person whose Solar Plexus or Sacral is defined bypasses their own Authority when they choose their career based on the best story they’ve told themselves.

Telling stories uninvited wears out the audience. The Projector who reels off anecdotes to fill a silence meets eyes that wander elsewhere, and bitterness comes when nobody remembers what they had to say.

For you, for others

For you

Tell your stories when you’re asked: that’s where they find their audience. The ones left over will wait for another evening. Still, the most convincing story doesn’t necessarily point to the right decision, which belongs to your Authority.

For others

Asking for a story is the shortest route to what this person knows. Don’t expect every idea to lead to a project: some exist only to be told, and that is enough for them.

Frequently asked questions about the Channel of Curiosity

How much does a person with this channel talk?

The channel doesn’t set the volume. It defines the Throat, which gives a consistent way of expressing oneself, here storytelling, whether the person talks a lot or a little. They can stay quiet for a whole evening; for a Projector, their story carries better when it has been asked for.

Does a Generator’s chart sometimes contain the 11-56?

Yes, it rules out only the Reflector. With the 34-57 added, the Sacral is defined without any motor connecting to the Throat: the chart is a Generator’s with Sacral Authority. With nothing else, the 11-56 makes a Projector with Mental Authority.

Are the ideas of Gate 11 waiting to be put into practice?

No. The system describes them as images and thoughts that come with no obligation to do anything with them. With Gate 56, they find an outlet in storytelling: an idea that has been told has done its job, even if nobody uses it afterward.

Why does this channel tell stories instead of explaining?

Because of its Throat gate. Among the eleven gates of this center, which the system distinguishes by how they express themselves, Gate 56 is the one that prefers to tell stories. Told through this channel, the lock visited the day before becomes a story, with its lock keeper and its barge running late, where a diagram would have been enough for others.
