Commitment goes through the body, and the direction becomes clearer along the way. A held-back tension waits for the task that deserves it, then turns into an appetite for life that spreads to those who share the work.

The heading and the push

Two centers share the cross. The G Center, on the Personality side, carries direction and the sense of self: there the 46 holds to a path through the body, and the 25 loves existence as a whole.

The Root, on the Design side, supplies a physical pressure, which the 52 keeps in reserve and the 58 turns toward the joy of being alive.

One gives a heading without momentum, the other momentum without a heading; the cross brings the two together, without any of its gates connecting to another.

The orchard behind the school

Behind the school, an abandoned orchard has been taken over by four neighbors. Cécile has spent her Saturdays there for three years.

She learned pruning on the trees themselves, watching what each cut produced the following spring.

The spring a late frost scorched all the blossoms, there was no harvest. She went around the trees with a notebook to record which ones had held up best.

The following fall, she set the date for the pressing, borrowed a cousin’s cider press and brought in half the neighborhood; the juice flowed until nightfall.

What the pressure makes possible

In a shared undertaking, this person is both the one who stays and the one who carries others along. The 46 enters the experience through the body and remains as long as it still has something to teach the person; no one expects a plan from her.

The 52 lets pressure build up without wasting it in agitation; the 58 then releases it as a zest for life, once the task is done. The Earth in the 25 welcomes the accidents along the way, a frost as much as an overly heavy harvest, as part of what it loves.

The angle is the Left Angle, whose people are described as needing others to reach their goal.

The neighbors’ path

Without a defined G Center, direction is taken from others; the 46 then holds to their path as firmly as to a path of its own. The orchard was the project of three neighbors; Cécile put three years of Saturdays into it without asking herself whether it was hers, and the 25 finds as much interest in this path as in any other.

The 58 can also spend too soon what the 52 was keeping. A day of celebration taken on impulse swallows the pressure that was supposed to carry the following week’s pruning, and the work waits for a renewed drive that is slow to come.

A failure accepted as part of life can hide the fact that it keeps repeating. Two springs of frost on the same trees call for a decision, not just one more page in the notebook.

For you, for others

For you

Save your drive for the task that calls for it, and let your authority sort out, among the days that desire fills on its own, the ones that deserve to be filled.

For others

Let a neighbor who has this cross look the project over without rushing her: she will get to it. When she invites you to a cheerful work day, come if you feel like it; she needs extra hands and good spirits.

Frequently asked questions about the Left Angle Cross of Healing

Does the 52 describe slowness?

A held-back tension, not a lack of drive. The body does not move, and the push of the Root stays intact, ready to serve when the task arrives.

Does the vitality of the 58 run out?

It gets tired like the rest of the body. The 58 gives the pressure a direction, the desire to live; it does not supply a bottomless reserve. A day that is too full comes at a price.

Can a path chosen by others become your own?

It can, when the body feels good in it and the chart’s authority consents. The 46 does not make the distinction on its own: it holds to the path the body has entered, wherever that path comes from.

Is staying in something for a long time the 52 or the 46?

The 46. It holds to a path with the body engaged; the 52 holds pressure without moving, which is another matter. One endures in action, the other holds action back until its time comes.
