The stories told here have something at stake: a game played with no guarantee, help given because the body wanted to give it. In between, a lull is crossed without the momentum falling, and it too finds its place in the story.
Harmonic gates outside the cross
Gate 28, the Game Player, does not have its harmonic gate here: Gate 38, the Fighter, is missing. Without it, the instinct that judges whether a game is worth playing does not have the pressure of the Root to hold on while it is being played.
Gate 27, Caring, has Gate 50, Values, as its harmonic gate. If present in the chart, the 50 would form the Channel of Preservation with it, which defines the Sacral and the Spleen Center; care then learns where to stop before harming the one who gives it.
In the Left Angle, no goal is pursued alone; this angle is also described as transpersonal karma.
The second boat
The skipper of a twelve-meter gillnetter is looking for a partner to buy a second boat. He brings it up with Ludovic, a deckhand for fifteen years, one evening at the fish auction, in front of the others. Ludovic accepts that same evening, because he likes the story: two men from the same deck who become skippers together.
The boat stays at the dock all winter for repairs. Ludovic waits without getting worked up; at the fish auction, on the other hand, he tells the story of the purchase to anyone who will listen, and the story gains an episode every week. In the spring, when the boatyard hands back the hull, he realizes he knows his story better than the boat’s accounts.
Telling what was risked
What Gate 56 tells was lived with something at stake: a game accepted without knowing the outcome, help given because the body granted it. The story does not need embellishing to hold attention. The 27 supplies its concrete material: help given on a Saturday, or a refusal in order to rest.
The Game Player, Gate 28, at the Design Earth, recognizes on the spot the game that is worth playing, without calculating the odds. Gate 60, Acceptance, at the Personality Earth, makes it possible to wait for a stake to become playable again, a boat repaired, a season starting up again, without withdrawing it.
The bet chosen for the anecdote
A game can appeal more for the story it promises than for itself. The yes then comes from the momentum of the story, not from the Game Player or from the chart’s authority; the person finds themselves committed to an adventure that nothing in them had chosen.
If the Sacral is open, the 27 draws on the energy of the people present. As long as the harbor is lively, the promised help is given without effort; after a month of solitude, the same promise weighs on the person, to the point that they no longer dare give it up.
For you, for others
For you
Faced with a game someone offers you, ask yourself whether you are accepting it for itself or for the story you will make of it. Only the first answer comes from your instinct.
For others
Talk frankly about your uncertain projects with a business partner whose chart has this cross, and take their immediate no as a complete answer: putting it back on the table the next day, unchanged, will teach you nothing more.
Frequently asked questions about the Left Angle Cross of Distraction
Does a recoil of instinct close the door for good?
It closes the game as it presented itself that day. The instinct of the 28 judges the moment; a proposal that comes back with different figures or different conditions is a different situation, and the answer can change with it.
Is an accepted bet reexamined at every difficulty?
Not on the same question. The 28 judged the moment the game presented itself; the troubles that follow are part of the stake and do not reopen the choice.
Does the pause of the 60 hold bets back?
It puts them on hold without canceling them. The gate makes it possible to wait for an accepted game to become playable again, without withdrawing the stake; the pressure of the Root remains whole for the restart.
What does Gate 56 tell when nothing is happening?
Not much. The 56 turns what has been lived into a story; during a lull, it waits for the game or the help underway to give it a sequel, and then for someone to ask it how it went.
