Knowing what a choice is worth and saying it plainly, then seeing that confidence held in check by a wave: aplomb learns patience here. Nothing is praised that has not first come through a lower moment.
Aplomb and the wave
Human Design describes the angle of this cross, the Juxtaposition, as a fixed fate.
Not a single channel forms among the four gates. The 6 and the 36 do share a center, though, the Solar Plexus: as soon as a channel formed elsewhere defines it, the wave decides for the whole chart; the aplomb of the 26 waits for it to come full circle.
The Heart of Gate 26, the Egoist, becomes defined only through a channel coming from elsewhere, the Channel of Surrender with the 44, for example. Without it, the 26 keeps its aplomb, but not willpower it can count on every day.
The wedding wine
Célestin runs a wine shop in Saumur. When a longtime customer asks him for the most expensive bottle in the store for his daughter’s wedding, he advises against it and champions instead a small hillside wine, at a third of the price, that he went to taste twice at the estate.
The customer hesitates, then follows the advice. The Monday after the wedding, he comes back to order six cases for the family. Two cousins stop by during the week.
The weight of advice
Advice is worth what the person giving it is willing to stake on it. The 26 knows how to defend a choice against the customer’s own opinion, with the aplomb of someone who knows their worth.
Gate 45, The Gatherer, at the Earth, turns this advice into a meeting point: those who followed it talk about it among themselves; the shop becomes a place people come back to.
Gate 6, Friction, lets relationships settle without haste. A supplier who has put up with some friction stays longer than a friend made in a single evening.
Together, these gates turn advice into a lasting bond: what is praised has been chosen, what is chosen brings people together, and time sorts out those who stay.
The wine fair purchase
A winegrowers’ fair, a successful tasting: the entire stock of an estate discovered that very day changes hands. The invoice arrives with the low of the wave: selling this wine to the regulars becomes a chore, while the bottle itself has stayed the same.
When open, the Solar Plexus takes the euphoria of a tasting room as its own. The aplomb of Gate 26 turns it into a sales pitch; customers leave with cases they would not have bought on another day.
The 6 can also turn its distance against what would renew the business. Newcomers, kept at arm’s length one season too long, take their business elsewhere.
For you, for others
For you
Sign nothing on the evening of an exciting tasting; call the seller back a week later. Your aplomb deserves choices that have held up until then.
For others
A wine merchant with this cross will advise you better once he has had time to get to know you and check what he is offering you. Come back, then accept that advice may arrive a week after the question.
Frequently asked questions about the Juxtaposition Cross of the Trickster
Do selling and checking go well together?
Yes, here. The 26 knows how to defend a choice, and a 4/1 only steps forward after studying the question: confidence then rests on a well-researched case as much as on aplomb.
Should a doubting customer be convinced?
Not at any cost. The 26 defends a choice it believes in; when doubt persists, the 45 lets the person go without holding them back. Trust returns on its own if the advice proves right elsewhere.
Is loving to sell part of this cross?
Not necessarily. The 26 describes the ability to assert a value, not a taste for commerce: a researcher defending her budget or a parent pleading for a class use it as much as a wine merchant.
Why do newcomers have to wait a little?
Because of Gate 6, which decides who can come closer, and when; a newcomer kept at a distance one evening has lost nothing, as long as the distance does not become a habit.
