A claim is accepted only after patient examination, and what has held is then defended without hedging, refusals included. On the Design side, the willpower of the Heart and a voice that brings people together give this doubt a follow-through.
Willpower in the service of doubt
Two of the four gates, the 63 and the 64, belong to the Head; the 45 is in the Throat. Of the four, the 26 is the only gate located in a motor, the Heart.
The doubt of the 63 therefore has, within the cross, no force to act on its own. The willpower of the 26 makes it possible to hold a position once the examination is done, and to keep holding it when it is unwelcome.
The Juxtaposition, this cross’s angle, is described as a fixed fate.
The speech therapy practice
Requests for assessments arrive at the speech therapy practice faster than it can keep up with them. Amaury turns down one in three and says so plainly: he only takes the children he will be able to see through to the end. Two families switch practices; he does not go back on his rule.
Language tests are expensive, too expensive for a single practitioner. Before bringing it up, he spent a winter wondering whether sharing them would skew the results, and only put the idea forward once the question was settled. One evening at a meeting of the area’s speech therapists, he suggests pooling them in a trunk that will travel from one practice to the next. The trunk has been going around for three years.
An examination with consequences
The 63 sorts out what deserves to be believed. What has held up under examination becomes a foundation; what has given way is set aside without harm.
At the Earth, the 64 keeps lived episodes from which no one has yet drawn the lesson. The day one of them becomes clear, it gives doubt the example it was missing.
With the 26 comes the self-assurance to hold a position, a refusal included, once the examination is done.
The 45 gathers people around what can be pooled: equipment, a question, a decision made together.
A refusal that hardens
Doubt can slide from ideas to people. A question put to a colleague about a report is heard as suspicion of their work; saying what you are checking, and why, avoids hurting the person who wrote it.
A refusal held by the 26 can also harden into a principle. What was a limit of willpower, taking on only what can be seen through, becomes a rule defended even on the day the willpower would allow more.
For you, for others
For you
Examine before you believe. Keep your refusals for what your willpower cannot sustain. And say what you are checking, so that no one feels accused.
For others
To convince a business partner with this cross, show what your claim rests on: she will come around once the examination is done.
Frequently asked questions about the Juxtaposition Cross of Doubts
Is the doubt of this cross mistrust?
It targets claims, not the people who make them. The misunderstanding arises when a question about a figure is taken for a reproach.
Why does a cross of questions have a gate in the Heart?
Because the 26, on the Design side, brings willpower. The questions of the 63 and the 64 have no force to act; the 26 makes it possible to hold the position that comes out of them.
Does a recovered memory ease doubt?
Not necessarily. An old image can provide an example, or become one more claim to examine; the 64 asks for time, not to be taken at its word.
What gets pooled with the 45?
What the people gathered already share: resources, a project, a decision to make. The 45 provides the rallying point; its harmonic gate, the 21, absent from the cross, would add the will to manage those resources.
