What continues has passed through instinct’s filter, then grows until it gives its full measure. Real limits are accepted without wasting momentum fighting them. What has been learned in going through them is passed on in the form of stories.
Stories waiting for their ideas
Gate 56, Stimulation, turns what has been lived into stories. The 56 has its harmonic gate, Gate 11, Ideas, in the Ajna, a center the cross does not reach. If a chart contains it, the 11 and the 56 together make up the Channel of Curiosity, which brings to the stories connections found outside lived experience. Without it, the stories draw on experience. This version belongs to the Left Angle: it is said to carry transpersonal karma.
The riding center
At the riding center, the board wanted to drop the Wednesday pony sessions, considered old-fashioned and barely profitable. Romane, who runs the center, said from the first reading of the budget that these sessions would continue. Six years on, some of today’s experienced riders took their first laps of the arena in those sessions.
To beginners who walk behind a horse, she tells the story of the kick she took at fifteen, the scar, the winter in a cast. No one forgets the rule after the story.
A rule that travels through a story
Gate 32, Continuity, keeps what is still sound, even when others consider it outdated. Gate 42, Growth, carries what has been kept through to maturity: what lasts here has been chosen, then seen through to the end.
Gate 60, Acceptance, treats a real limit as a framework to work within. The momentum stays whole in the Root; it is put to use inside the limit instead of wearing itself out against it.
The 56 passes things on by telling stories. An audience remembers the story, and the rule it carried goes along with it, without having been recited.
A good story in place of a yes
Storytelling has its own trap. A project accepted because it would make a good story has not received instinct’s agreement: the 56 has spoken in place of the 32; the commitment remains once the enthusiasm has faded.
An open Root picks up the pressure in the air. A limit that Gate 60 would accept without difficulty then becomes unbearable under other people’s haste, and the person forces a way through that nothing had yet opened.
The 56 can also tell the story too soon. A choice still in progress, turned into a story in front of the riders, becomes hard to undo when instinct, at the next deadline, no longer keeps it.

What happens to the sorting of the 32 when the Spleen Center is open?
It risks mistaking a worry that came from others for instinct’s opinion. Instinct speaks only of the present; a fear that comes back every time the next season comes to mind does not come from it.
