Kin 141: Red Spectral Dragon
Dreamspell
141of 260
Watching over a beginning, then stepping back once it no longer needs you: for the Spectral Dragon, both gestures are part of the same care.
You support an apprentice until they no longer need your advice, a team until it runs without you, someone close until they are back on their feet. Then something in you knows that your presence is starting to get in the way. That kind of knowing is rare in a Dragon, and it is your tone that brings it.
No other seal steers your Kin: the guide is the Dragon, its own strength doubled. What allows you to leave will therefore not come from a foreign quality, such as detachment or coldness. It comes from the Dragon itself, whose function is to make room for beginnings. Each successful withdrawal frees a space where another beginning can be welcomed, and that is where your care finds its source again.
Yet this withdrawal rubs against the seal’s attachment. The role of protector gives you a place, a meaning, a reason to be called on. Leaving it feels like abandonment, so you stay a little longer, just in case, then a little longer still. And your tone cannot bear a halfway withdrawal: a hand that lets go while staying where it is has let go of nothing, neither for you nor for the person concerned. Among what you protect today, what already stands on its own without you?

- The Monkey pushes the Dragon to play for no good reason. It is precisely what you refuse to take lightly that you need to look at.
- The Occult (hidden power), the Yellow Sun
