A Sacral that does not reach the Throat
The 59 and the 9 sit in the Sacral, the 16 in the Throat; none of these gates joins another through a channel. If the chart had, outside the cross, only the Channel of Concentration (9-52) and the Channel of the Wavelength (16-48), it would be that of a Generator with Sacral Authority: the Sacral is defined there without reaching the Throat, where the 16 sits.

A summer camp accepted for a colleague
Nassim teaches judo at a neighborhood club. For six weeks, he has thought of nothing but one of his students’ regional final and the one throw she still misses when fatigue sets in.
In May, an instructor from a nearby club asks him to run a summer camp with her. He says yes for the pleasure of teaming up with her; in July, he discovers that the camp itself does not interest him, runs it without enthusiasm and comes home drained every evening.
Building as a pair, one task at a time
A joint project can be born of a meeting: the 59 gives the desire for it, and when the Sacral is defined elsewhere in the chart, its force comes back every morning for this chosen bond. The 9 puts this force on a single task, the one the gut has accepted.
The 16 then opens this knowledge to others: a student, a colleague, a partner leaves with what they did not know how to do.
The yes addressed to the person
Accepting a project because you like the person proposing it is not a response from the gut to the project. The force of the Sacral commits to it without having chosen it, and each day costs something instead of renewing it.
The 9 can also fix on a task no one has proposed: a self-imposed drive for improvement that absorbs the person for weeks. Without a response from the gut, the attention holds through discipline, without the ease it has on an accepted task.

Does the cross determine the Type?
Not on its own, since its gates form no channel. With the Channel of Charisma (20-34) in the rest of the chart, the Sacral would join the Throat: you would be dealing with a Manifesting Generator.
Do Gates 59 and 9 draw on the same reserve?
Yes, that of the Sacral: one takes from it what it needs to build a bond, the other what it needs to sustain a task. When this center is not defined, the force comes from those around, for both.
How do you tell a yes to the project from a yes to the person?
By asking the question without the person: does the project, described on its own, get a reaction from the gut? A response that only comes when the partner is mentioned concerns the bond, not the work.
Do interruptions bother the 9?
Yes: each break forces the person to pick the task up again where the attention left it; a question that can wait is better left until the end of the task.
