The body enters a path before knowing its goal; the direction can be read afterward. A desire to live goes with it, one that also knows how to wait for its moment.

Two neighbors at opposite poles

The 46 at the Personality Sun, the 25 at the Earth: two neighboring gates in the G Center, which the wheel nevertheless places at opposite poles. The Juxtaposition describes a fixed fate; those who have it are a bridge between the Left Angle and the Right Angle.

An hour on foot along the canal

In the morning, an hour’s walk along the canal separates Faustine from her office. She has never counted the miles or looked for a shortcut; without this walk, she says, the day starts off wrong, and that is all she knows about it.

When construction closed the towpath for two months, she took the warehouse street, started greeting the forklift drivers, then got to know their first names; one of them taught her to recognize types of wood by the smell of the pallets.

Some mornings, she sits for a moment on the lock bench, in no hurry, before setting off again. On others, she stretches the walk by half an hour for the sheer pleasure of walking farther.

What sticking to a path brings

Because the body feels good on it, the 46 holds to a path without needing to know where it ends; the Earth in the 25 is even interested in what thwarts it. A blocked road becomes another road, with other faces.

Held back by the 52, the pressure of the Root does not scatter, and the 58 releases it when the day lends itself to it: one more detour, a longer walk, an urge to try.

When constancy takes the place of choice

Not knowing the goal of a path is the nature of the 46; no longer sensing whether the body feels good on it is its pitfall.

A commute, a job, a habit can go on by the sheer force of constancy, and the 25 finds enough appeal in each to call nothing into question.

The loyalty of the 4/1 can hold the person back too: a job the 46 was already holding to then goes on out of loyalty to longtime colleagues; the question of leaving recedes even further.

Finally, the 25 can turn every detour into one more path. One setback opens an interesting road, then another; the paths add up, and the body, holding to all of them, ends up without room for the one that mattered.

For you, for others

For you

Follow the paths your body enjoys, then look at where they lead. From time to time, walk differently: a detour will tell you whether the usual path still pleases you.

For others

A friend with this cross may draw you into an unexpected detour: follow her from time to time. When she stubbornly sticks to a route or a job, ask her what keeps her there. Do not ask her to prove where it leads.

Frequently asked questions about the Juxtaposition Cross of Serendipity

Why does the 46 not justify itself before starting?

Because the direction becomes clearer once the body is engaged. Demanding a destination at the start would mean asking it for what it does not yet have.

Is stillness without a goal wasted time?

Not for the 52: the pressure of the Root stays whole there, kept for a task that deserves it. The day the opportunity comes, the 58 gladly spends it.

Does the body of the 46 need physical effort?

It needs to be engaged, not to perform feats. Walking, gardening or holding down a job: the gate is about physical presence in an experience, whatever it may be.

What does the 46 gain from having the 25 at the Earth?

A taste for the accidents of the road. The 46 holds to the path; the 25 takes an interest in whatever blocks or diverts it, so that a setback does not become a reason to give up.
