Before passing to others, a skill may face a question: is it true? It then shows itself in front of those who have a use for it, while the attention closes in on a chosen piece of work.

A fixed fate, no channel

As a Juxtaposition, this cross belongs to a fixed fate. Its four gates are joined by no channel: the Throat of the 16 and the Sacral of the 9 owe any definition they may have to the rest of the chart, as does the Head, where the 63 and the 64 sit.

A wedding sound check

Zélie repairs guitar amplifiers. One Friday, a wedding band calls her from a farm where the party is being set up: the bassist’s amp cut out dead during the sound check. She arrives with her toolbox and, her back to the dance floor, spends two hours on it; the barn fills up without her noticing.

The bassist, sitting beside her, asks what she is looking for. Zélie tells her as she goes, out loud, placing the probe on each solder joint: a wire has come loose at the input, nothing more. The bassist now knows where to look.

What held up on the test bench

What has been tried all the way through is passed on directly: the 16 shows, in front of whoever needs it, what the 63 has been able to put to the test, and the 9, at the Earth, keeps the trial on a single object.

The 64 does not serve the trial. It gives lived moments time to yield their meaning, alongside the work, without asking anything of it.

The endless trial

A test bench with no end date delays the answer: Zélie kept an amp for three weeks that a band was waiting for to go on tour.

The pressure of the Head does not stop on its own: each check carried out calls for another, without anything in the cross saying when the trial has gone on long enough.

A 4/1 wants solid ground underfoot before giving an opinion, and the 63 demands one more proof: together, they can push the opinion back past the moment when it was useful.

For you, for others

For you

Before each trial, decide on the day you will give your answer. A half-checked opinion, given in time, serves those close to you better than a complete opinion that arrives too late.

For others

When you want the opinion of a coworker with this cross, give her a specific question and leave her time to test it. The answer will come with the demonstration.

Frequently asked questions about the Juxtaposition Cross of Experimentation

Why is a requested opinion slow to come?

Because it goes through a trial. The 63 asks that an idea hold up under scrutiny, and the Head does not release its pressure as long as a question remains open; the opinion arrives when the trial has been carried through, not before.

Does a trial count as proof for the 63?

For the question asked, yes, when it has been carried all the way through. Nothing is ruled out in advance: an idea that has held up can be adopted, then shown.

What is the 64 doing in such hands-on work?

It does not deal with the work: it brings back lived moments still waiting for their meaning. These images live alongside the workshop, and nothing requires bringing them into it.

Is the skill of the 16 lost if no one asks for it?

It stays whole, but it does not come out. The Throat brings outward what is lived when an opportunity arises; without a request, the skill waits for the next one.
