A desire wired to pressure

A desire sometimes arrives before you know what it is about: you want to experience something whose shape is still to be discovered. Gate 30 places this desire in the Solar Plexus, and it follows that center’s emotional wave, with its highs and lows.

With Gate 41, which belongs to the Root, Gate 30 forms 30-41, the Channel of Recognition. The pressure of the Root then drives this desire toward action.

First in the order of authorities, the Solar Plexus decides for any chart that has this channel: the Authority there is Emotional, whatever the rest.

The name comes from this wave. A feeling cannot be recognized at its most intense point; it becomes readable after it has been lived through in elation, in dejection, and then in calm.

The midwifery entrance exam

For two years, Claire, an accountant, has been talking about going back to study midwifery. Some evenings, she reads school curricula until midnight; some mornings, the idea seems ridiculous to her. She has never set foot in a maternity ward except as a visitor.

When a midwife friend offers to let her shadow her for a week at the hospital, Claire does not answer that same evening. She lets days of highs and lows go by; the desire holds through both, so she accepts, then signs up for the entrance exam. Another urge, to open a tea room, had not survived its first bad week.

A desire that has proven itself

A project announced in a calm moment has already been through its own doubts: the people close to the person can rely on it. Having passed through several moments of the wave, the desire keeps what withstands the moods and drops the rest along the way.

The Root, through Gate 41, lends this desire the push that carries it into experience once clarity has come.

The urge that isn’t your own

A Manifestor with Emotional Authority and this gate can take off on the impulse of a single evening. If they have told no one, the resistance of the people around them arrives just as their own enthusiasm is fading.

For a Generator whose Authority is Emotional, the gut can respond yes at the height of the excitement. The response counts; the decision still waits until the mood has come full circle.

A group of friends decides on a trip to Iceland over dessert; the person gets carried away with them, books, then discovers back home that the urge left with the group.

An open Solar Plexus produces this kind of borrowed excitement: there, Gate 30 desires with other people’s intensity, and the urge fades when they leave.
