Chart typeGenerator or Manifesting Generator
Chart authorityEmotional or Sacral
Nothing moves for a long time, then everything changes at once. This rhythm of stops and restarts belongs to the channel, and the person learns to let it run its course instead of forcing it.
Two motors, a rhythm in pulses
Gate 3, Ordering, belongs to the Sacral; Gate 60, Acceptance, to the Root. Both centers are motors: the Root exerts a physical pressure, close to adrenaline, and the Sacral provides the work force. A defined Sacral reserves the chart for Generators and Manifesting Generators. Neither center touches the Throat, so the 3-60 on its own gives a Generator with Sacral Authority. Adding a 20-34 is enough to switch to Manifesting Generator; a 19-49, which defines the Solar Plexus, makes the Authority Emotional.
The 3-60 belongs to the Individual group. The system attaches the subtitle “A Design of Energy which Initiates and Fluctuates (Pulse)” to it, a design of energy that starts things and fluctuates, in pulses: an on-and-off way of working.
The workshop that changes overnight
A carpenter spends the winter doing repairs, making deliveries, answering the phone. He starts nothing new and isn’t looking. In March, an order for a bookcase sets him off on a way of working wood he had never tried. By autumn, the workshop isn’t the same.
Between two restarts, nothing happens, and that nothing looks like a breakdown. The channel works in fits and starts, as its subtitle says. The pause is part of the movement.
Waiting for something outside to call for a response: the Generator’s Strategy takes a very concrete form here. The channel doesn’t restart on command. A project launched during the pause for reassurance soon gets bogged down.
The same movement affects private life. A woman keeps the same home and the same habits without thinking about it, until the day friends suggest she take over a farm with them; her life then changes shape.
When the restart comes
The restart brings something new: a method, a turning point, a way of doing things nobody around them had seen. The channel’s name, Mutation, refers to this change.
The Sacral has responded, the Root is pushing. The person then finds what it takes to carry the change through to the end.
Once under way, the carpenter who spent the winter on repairs stops counting his hours in the workshop. Once the bookcase is delivered, two clients come and ask him for the same way of working the wood.
Pauses that are hard to live with
The lulls are worrying. People around ask when things will pick up again; the waiting fills up with projects launched to keep up appearances.
Without a response from the Sacral, these projects move forward on discipline and leave frustration behind. The pressure of the Root adds the urge to get them over with quickly, even at the cost of rushing.
The working world rewards regularity. An annual review, a figure to hit every quarter: the channel’s rhythm comes across as a lack of consistency. A manager who expects equal results from one month to the next sees a slump where there is only a pause.
Change, once under way, shakes up the habits of those working alongside. Holding it back so as not to upset anyone leaves the Sacral’s power with nothing to do.
For you, for others
For you
Note the quiet periods in your year and what brought them to an end. You may find that the restart came from an outside request far more than from a resolution you made on your own.
For others
During the periods when nothing moves, leave this person alone: pressuring them restarts nothing. Offer them concrete things their gut can respond to. Then watch which one gets them going again.
Frequently asked questions about the Channel of Mutation
Is Gate 3 in the Root or in the Sacral?
In the Sacral. Gate 60 is in the Root. The channel therefore connects two motors; every chart that contains it has a defined Sacral.
How long does a period without change last?
The system gives no duration. It describes a pulsing way of working, with no calendar: the restart follows a response from the Sacral, not a date.
Under what condition does the 3-60 give a Manifesting Generator?
Neither the Sacral nor the Root touches the Throat. So another channel is needed to bring one of them to it, such as the 20-34, which runs from the Sacral to the Throat.
What does the restart depend on?
A response from the Sacral. In a Generator’s chart as in a Manifesting Generator’s, the Strategy has the restart begin with an order or a proposal coming from elsewhere, to which the gut says yes. The channel then supplies the power for the change. The carpenter didn’t decide to change his method; a bookcase to build led him there.
