Staying where others have given up while knowing in the moment when one more effort would be useless: this tenacity has a limit that does not come from fatigue.

One pressure, two uses, a harmonic gate in the Spleen Center

The Root receives both Personality gates, the 38 and the 39. They draw on the same physical pressure, one to hold out against what resists, the other to provoke a reaction.

The 38 has its harmonic gate in the Spleen Center: Gate 28, the Game Player. If it is present, the Root joins this center, home of the Design’s 48, through the Channel of Struggle. Every fight then passes through an instinct that judges it healthy or not, in the moment.

The angle of this version, the Right Angle, describes a destiny centered on the person.

The rejected carrot

Two farmers before Stanislas had given up on these two hectares of vegetables in stony ground. Hail flattened his seedlings three springs in a row; he resowed each time, moving the fragile crops to the bottom of the field, sheltered by the hedge.

One April morning, he pushes his hand into a bed, pulls it out and puts the seeder away. His neighbor has already planted; Stanislas will plant a week later.

At the growers’ fair, he displays the most crooked of his carrots on his stall, with a label: “Rejected by the supermarket.” The laughter draws a crowd; two restaurant owners leave with his number.

Holding on without pointless stubbornness

A piece of ground everyone has left finds someone to stay on it: the 38 finds in the obstacle a reason to keep going, and the Design’s 48 signals when one more effort would be wasted.

The Earth in the 39 gives the same pressure another outlet, the remark that makes people laugh and think at the same time. The 21, on the Design side, brings a domain run without anyone checking up: a field, a schedule, a customer base.

Fights found everywhere

An open Root picks up other people’s pressure and magnifies it. The tenacity of the 38 then finds fights everywhere, even in a property-line dispute that did not deserve a whole season.

The domain of the 21 sometimes becomes what the fight is about: a schedule the person refuses to share, defended with the tenacity once kept for bad weather.

The 48 decides in the moment. Waiting for arguments before following it means sowing out of habit on the planned day, then letting a late frost prove the calendar wrong.

The joke of the 39 does not always land right. Mocking a neighbor’s carrot, rather than the supermarket’s standard, offends an ally instead of getting a laugh at the expense of what bothers everyone.

For you, for others

For you

Save your strength for the ground you have chosen. When your hand tells you to wait, wait, even if the calendar says otherwise.

For others

A friend with this cross will not drop a difficult project because you try to talk him out of it: ask him what his instinct says about the current struggle, and let his jokes sting without taking them personally.

Frequently asked questions about the Right Angle Cross of Tension

Are the four Crosses of Tension alike?

They share their four gates, but each one opens on a different gate at the Personality Sun. In this version, the tenacity of the 38 sets the tone; elsewhere, it is a domain to hold, a sure touch or a question that shakes things up.

Does holding on for a long time lead to success?

Nothing guarantees it. The 38 provides the tenacity; what it produces depends on the fight chosen at the start, according to the chart’s authority.

What is the 39 for in someone so tenacious?

It is another outlet for the same pressure. Where the 38 waits for the obstacle to give way, the 39 provokes: a remark, a joke that stings, and the situation moves without anyone having had to wear it down.

Does the sure judgment of the 48 act as a safeguard for the 38?

It can give it a sense of measure. The 48 knows in the moment what is enough; applied to an effort, this judgment signals that one more push would add nothing. It still has to be heard before stubbornness takes over again.
