A player at the handball club found a simpler way to fill in the match sheets; a month later, everyone is using it. What she brings doesn’t go through any speech. She does it in front of the others, her own way, and then they use it.

What the Throat brings out

A gate only defines a center through a complete channel. Among the gates of the Throat, Gate 8 is the one that brings out a contribution: a gesture, a word or an object that goes out toward others.

The Channel of Inspiration, the 1-8, joins Gate 8 and Gate 1, Self-Expression, which comes from the G Center. For Gate 8, it changes the nature of what it offers: what it brings out is no longer just useful, it shows who made it.

If Gate 1 isn’t in the chart, Gate 8 stays there with its way of contributing, but the Throat doesn’t owe its definition to it.

A contribution you can watch being made

Théo, a warehouse worker, taped to the warehouse wall a map of the aisles he had drawn for himself. The temp workers use it from their first day.

Nathalie goes to a pottery workshop. She doesn’t run it, but the slate where she notes drying times, next to the kiln, is now used by everyone who signs up.

Their contribution doesn’t go through any meeting: it gets seen, then it gets taken up.

The day management imposes the company’s official map on Théo, he hangs it next to his drawing. The temp workers keep looking at his.

A contribution that keeps a signature

What served one person becomes useful to a group, with no negotiation: Gate 8 makes a way of doing things available to others.

In the Throat, each gate has its own way of bringing out what comes from within. Gate 8’s way turns that expression toward others: what gets expressed serves someone.

When Gate 1 completes the channel, those who take up the contribution take up a manner along with it. The method keeps its author’s mark, and people recognize it by that mark.

A contribution that comes out at the right moment, when someone asks for it or the body has responded, gets taken up; the same thing, pushed through by force, gets lost.

Contributing to be seen

When Gate 8 sits in an open Throat, contributing can become a way to get noticed: you bring something to exist in the room more than because it’s useful. The system links this need to be seen to the open center, which amplifies what it takes in.

At a travel agency, an agent who is a Projector sends all his colleagues the spreadsheet he built for himself, without anyone having asked for it. The tool is good; nobody adopts it, and bitterness builds up.

With a defined Throat, the risk is the reverse. The way of expressing oneself stays the same everywhere, and the contribution comes out without checking whether anyone needs it that day.

The new method, put in place one Friday evening without warning, is waiting for the team on Monday morning. Its author, a Manifesting Generator, acted before informing the people who work with him; they discover it, annoyed at not having been told.

For you, for others

For you

Put your finds up where others can see them, without presenting them as a rule. The ones that are useful will be taken up; the ones that aren’t cost you nothing.

For others

Tell the person with this gate how what they contributed was useful to you, naming the specific thing. Let them know too when you change it: it’s still their contribution, even transformed.

Frequently asked questions about Gate 8: Contribution

Does Gate 8 push you to speak in public?

Not in itself. The Throat carries speech as well as action, and the contribution can just as well be a map put up on a wall. Public speaking is just one form among others.

Does Gate 8 need to be thanked?

The system says nothing about thanks. It describes a way of doing things that becomes a contribution; being taken up is enough. For a Projector, recognition matters more, since their Strategy goes through the invitation.

Does a chart without Gate 8 contribute less?

No. Every chart brings something to others through other gates. Gate 8 describes one specific way of doing it, where the contribution carries the person’s mark.

Does a contribution have to be original?

No, it has to be their own. A family recipe handed down in their own way counts as much as an invention; what sets it apart is the manner, not the novelty.
