A question that comes down to the Ajna

No channel leads from the Head to any center other than the Ajna. The three gates of the Head each have a single partner, always in that center. When the Head is defined, the Ajna is therefore defined too: what the Head raises can immediately take the form of thought, one level down.

In this pressure center, Gate 63, Doubt, tests what was taken for granted: a habit, a figure, a line of reasoning accepted without examination. The pressure doesn’t let up until the checking has been done.

Joined by Gate 4, Formulization, Gate 63 completes 4-63: this is the Channel of Logic, where doubt leads to an explanation clear enough to be passed on.

The reflex to count again

Isabelle reads on a box of dietary supplements that they “boost your defenses.” She looks up the study cited and finds that it was done on mice.

At the garage, her husband, Joël, refuses to replace a part the electronic diagnostics flag as faulty. He takes it out and tests it on the bench; it works. The warning light came from a cable.

Their nine-year-old son, when told that bulls hate red, asks how anyone knows.

The same doubt turns against their own certainties. Before signing his loan, Joël redid the calculation of the monthly payments three times, and he would do it again.

What stands up to scrutiny

A group that includes someone with Gate 63 spares itself false certainties. An idea that has been questioned and held can serve as a foundation; an idea that gave way will have cost only a question.

Gate 4, if the chart contains it, offers the question its way out: a formulated answer, one that has already passed the test of doubt.

Doubting everything, even yourself

An open Head picks up the doubts of those around and, according to the system, amplifies them. Gate 63 finds plenty to keep it busy there: let a colleague worry about his figures, and the person spends the evening checking accounts that have nothing to do with them.

Turned toward one’s own life, doubt paralyzes. A Generator whose Sacral has said yes to a move waits for proof that it will be the right choice; the proof doesn’t come, and the opportunity passes.

Doubt can also slide from ideas to people. Questioning a line of reasoning is not the same as suspecting the person who holds it, but when the nuance gets lost, those around hear distrust.

The next question arrives as soon as an answer is found: the pressure of the Head doesn’t stop on its own. Without a chosen pause, checking becomes a permanent state.
