The desire to get closer to someone doesn’t stop at attraction. It also pushes you to team up, to set up a home, to share a project: it wants bonds that last.
A drive, and another gate to regulate it
Gate 59 sits in the Sacral, the center of life energy, the kind that makes you work as well as the kind that makes you desire. The gate’s name comes from there, but the drive it names goes beyond desire: it pushes you to form attachments and to build with someone.
Through the Channel of Intimacy, numbered 6-59, Gate 59 joins Gate 6, Friction, in the Solar Plexus. The system gives this Gate 6 the task of finding the right distance from the other person: the drive comes from Gate 59, access is regulated at Gate 6.
Offering to do it together
Manon has been at the agency for three weeks when she suggests to a colleague that they put together a new client’s file. She barely knows him. The wish to work with him came from a chat by the coffee machine; she couldn’t explain it any further.
On a bench in the park, Kader talks with the father of one of his daughter’s classmates. An hour later, they have talked about their jobs and a trip to take with the kids someday. Kader writes down his number and resolves to wait until the following week to see whether the wish to see him again holds.
What it takes to make a bond last
A chosen bond finds in this gate what it needs to last. The Sacral renews itself every day; put at the service of a partnership or a household, its energy comes back the next day.
There is nothing awkward to get past in the gate’s name: in Human Design, sexuality draws on the same reserve as work and endurance.
In contact with Gate 6, when the chart contains it, this energy learns patience. The bond moves forward at the pace of moods, and what remains when they settle has already been put to the test.
When the drive goes off on its own
The first step can come from Gate 59 itself. For a Generator, whose Strategy asks them to respond, proposing a partnership straight away to someone who asked for nothing starts something no one invited; the relationship then begins with effort.
A yes given to the person does not commit the gut to the project. A graphic designer agrees to take on a second project with her business partner because she likes working alongside him; the subject didn’t interest her, and her energy wears itself out on the task instead of coming back each morning.
A strong presence can also lend its desire. When the Sacral is open, the gate remains in the chart, but the drive may come from elsewhere, since this center, according to the system, takes in and amplifies the life force of the people around. A Projector with Gate 59 can then become attached to a project that was not their own.
For you, for others
For you
When a bond attracts you, look at what you want to build in it, and with whom. Your Strategy and your Authority will then tell you whether the time has come to commit.
For others
When a colleague with Gate 59 suggests teaming up, answer frankly, including with a “not now.” His drive is looking for a bond that holds, not an agreement wrung out of you.
Frequently asked questions about Gate 59: Sexuality
Sexuality: is this gate’s name limited to desire?
No. Sexuality is part of the Sacral’s life energy, which also fuels work and the keeping of commitments. The gate speaks of connection in the broad sense.
Does Gate 59 also concern friendship?
Yes. The drive it describes aims at any relationship where two people build something together: a friendship, a partnership, a household. Physical attraction is only one form of it.
How does the drive of Gate 59 show at work?
Through the wish to build with someone: proposing a partnership, taking on a project with a chosen colleague. The Sacral brings a lasting energy to it, provided it is the gut that accepted the project, and not mere politeness.
What happens to Gate 59 without Gate 6?
It still appears in the chart, without forming a channel or defining a center on its own. The Sacral is then defined only if another of its channels is.
