Channel of Acceptance
Key facts
- Circuit
- Collective, Logic
At dinner, someone explains why the train will always be faster than the car, timetables and connections to back it up, without anyone having asked. This channel shapes an opinion and delivers it with its details. Nothing in it provides the means to put that opinion into action.
A thought that finds its words
Gate 17, Opinion, belongs to the Ajna, the center where the system places the conceptualizing mind; it proceeds by spotting patterns and drawing a conclusion from them. Gate 62, Detail, is in the Throat and names things precisely.
Neither of these two centers is a motor. On its own, the 17-62 gives a Projector’s chart with Mental Authority: apart from the Ajna and the Throat, nothing is defined, and no center in the body can decide.
The rest of the chart determines what follows. With the 7-31, which connects the G Center to the Throat, the Type stays Projector but Authority becomes Self-Projected. Adding the 21-45 changes more: the Heart, a motor, reaches the Throat, and the chart becomes a Manifestor with Ego Authority. For any chart containing it, the 17-62 rules out only the Reflector and Lunar Authority.
It is part of the Logic sub-circuit, in the Collective group; with the 7-31 and the 16-48, it is one of the three channels in this sub-circuit that end at the Throat. Its subtitle, “A Design of an Organizational Being,” describes someone who organizes.
Putting a subject in order
At a condo owners’ meeting, the facade renovation has been dominating the meeting for an hour. A neighbor raises her hand and lays things out: the cheapest quote leaves out the scaffolding on the courtyard side, the other two include it. Within ten minutes, the room has decided.
The movement runs from the Ajna to the Throat, from the conclusion to the details that support it. From one meeting to the next, the neighbor approaches a problem from the same end, to the point that people close to her know in advance which objections she will raise.
For her own choices, the same neighbor does things differently when her chart has no other defined center. The renovation was decided on quotes; for the sale of her apartment, Mental Authority asks her to go back into the empty rooms, then out into the street at different times of day, before trusting a well-filled price spreadsheet.
When the opinion is wanted
A well-built opinion saves a whole group time. The channel puts order into a muddled subject and pulls out the details that matter, so that those listening can check for themselves and make up their own minds.
Gate 62 names details precisely. In the condo, the forgotten scaffolding was enough to rule out the cheapest quote; a conclusion that doesn’t survive a detail can thus be revised without drama.
Organizational tasks offer it natural ground, whether it’s a team’s schedule or a grant application to put together. For a Projector invited to do it, this work brings success, the Signature of their Type.
Being right too soon
An opinion offered without being asked for has little chance of being received, and the channel produces them effortlessly. In a Projector’s chart, the gap between what they see and what others are willing to hear feeds bitterness. The neighbor who corrects every set of minutes without being invited to ends up no longer being listened to, even when she’s right.
The other trap lies in certainty. The precision of the details makes a conclusion look proven, and a neatly packaged opinion ends up standing in for a decision. The choices that come out of it, not having gone through the chart’s Authority, don’t always hold up when the time comes to live them.
For you, for others
For you
Save your opinions for when you’re asked for them: they’ll carry more weight. For your own decisions, a flawless demonstration doesn’t replace your Authority, which, depending on the rest of your chart, calls for one more conversation or a period of waiting.
For others
A specific question, put to this person alone, lets them unfold their answer all the way through, details included. If their opinion seems too clear-cut to you, ask which detail it rests on: the discussion will move further than by setting one opinion against another.
Frequently asked questions about the Channel of Acceptance
Does a chart with the 17-62 necessarily decide with the head?
No. On its own, it gives Mental Authority, because no other center is defined. As soon as another channel defines the G Center, the Spleen Center or a motor, Authority passes to one of them.
Is the 17-62 only about opinions?
It combines two gates: Opinion in the Ajna, Detail in the Throat. The opinion of Gate 17 comes out with what justifies it, so it can be discussed detail by detail.
How many channels connect the Ajna to the Throat?
Three. The 23-43 is placed in the Individual group, the 11-56 in the Collective with no confirmed sub-circuit; the 17-62 is the only one of the three to belong to the Logic sub-circuit.
What does a Projector do with this channel?
They use it best by invitation: when they’re asked to organize a subject, their detailed opinion is wanted and taken on board. Without an invitation, the same opinion meets resistance.
