Kin 4: Yellow Self-Existing Seed

Before sowing, the Self-Existing Seed prepares the plot: for this Seed, potential is only worth something with a framework ready to receive it.

You see that an intern could become an excellent professional, and you build them a training path. You sense that a neighborhood idea could become a real organization, and you draft its bylaws. Where others get excited about a possibility, you put in the stakes, the rules, the schedule that will let it grow straight.

The Yellow Sun shines, and it carries each cycle through to its end. As a guide, it gives your Self-Existing Seed another idea of structure: that of the whole cycle, from germination to fruit and then back to seed, rather than that of a plan drawn in advance. The Sun doesn’t tell the plant what shape to take; it gives it warmth and light, and the plant finds its own shape.

Your way of framing things does have a less comfortable side, though. What could come about has no form yet, and the Seed knows this better than anyone. Your tone, for its part, wants edges. So you sometimes draw the plant before it has come out of the ground: the exact position the person will hold, the precise size of the project three years from now. The framework becomes a mold, and whatever wanted to grow differently runs up against your plans. Between the stake that supports and the mold that constrains, the difference often comes down to one detail: whether you let the plant surprise you.
