Kin 173: Red Self-Existing Skywalker

Dreamspell

173of 260

Seal 13: Skywalker red
Tone 4: Self-Existing
Wavespell: 4 of 13; White Dog wavespell, Kin 170 to 182

Seal 13, tone 4: one square out of 260

Before going in anywhere, the Self-Existing Skywalker wants to know the lay of the land: its daring goes by way of the map.

You explore far, but never blindly. Before a departure, you measure, you mark out boundaries, you look for the outline of what awaits you. This demand makes your way of exploring unusual: your journeys leave behind maps others can use, in the form of frameworks, definitions, plans.

But the Skywalker looks toward territory without edges, and the Self-Existing tone needs edges in order to commit. The places that attract you most are often the ones that cannot be measured in advance. You then risk staying at the starting line, polishing the plan for a journey whose whole meaning lies in escaping the plan.

The Red Moon, your guide, is no surveyor. It follows the movement of emotions, which has no fixed shape and changes with every tide. It suggests another way of measuring: what you feel when facing a destination with no map is as reliable a reading as any survey. A fear, an attraction, a sense of relief say something about the shape of the journey that figures do not show.

Define what can be defined, and agree to feel the rest: your Kin plays out at the border between what you measure and what you let pass through you.

The oracle of Kin 173

Five seals make up the oracle: the Kin’s own seal at the center, and four others around it. At tone 4, the guide is the Red Moon, Kin 69.

The guide changes with the tone; the Analog, the Antipode and the Occult belong to the seal.

The Analog, the White World-Bridger: The World-Bridger understands the passages the Skywalker goes through: it gives the Skywalker a mirror to recognize where it stands in its cycles of transformation.
The Antipode, the Blue Night: The Night holds deep dreams and the patience of silence; it reminds the Skywalker that some things grow in the dark and that constant exploration is no substitute for gestation.
The Occult (hidden power), the Yellow Star: Beneath the Skywalker’s restlessness, the Star keeps a vision of beauty and of the right form: deep down, that is what steers its explorations, even when it doesn’t yet know where it is going.
