Kin 1: Red Magnetic Dragon
Dreamspell
1of 260
With the Magnetic Dragon, what comes to you often needs shelter: a person just setting out, a project that still has no name, a group looking for somewhere to settle.
People entrust things to you. A friend tells you about an idea before mentioning it to anyone else; a newly formed team turns to you to find out whether it can stand on its own. The Magnetic tone makes your care a rallying point: you only have to look after something for others to come and join it.
That is where the friction comes from. The Dragon finds it hard to refuse a beginning that asks for help, and the Magnetic gathers in proportion to what is clearly wanted. If you take in everything that arrives, the whole that forms around you has no center: many beginnings, each one turned toward you, none turned toward the same point.
No neighboring seal tempers this reflex to take charge: the Dragon guides itself, and the reflex is doubled. Direction will therefore not come from some other quality you could borrow. It lies in your own way of watching over things: among everything you shelter, there is one thing you would protect even if no one asked you to. That is what your tone asks you to name. As long as it stays unspoken, the Magnetic Dragon attracts needs; once it is said out loud, it attracts people who come for the same thing it does.
The oracle of Kin 1
Five seals make up the oracle: the Kin’s own seal at the center, and four others around it. At tone 1, the guide is the Red Dragon itself.

- The Analog, the White Mirror
- The Mirror reflects back to the Dragon the image of what it nurtures: it reveals the hidden structure beneath every act of care, every protection, every surge of life.
- The Antipode, the Blue Monkey
- The Monkey pushes the Dragon to play for no good reason. It is precisely what you refuse to take lightly that you need to look at.
- The Occult (hidden power), the Yellow Sun
- The Sun works quietly beneath the Dragon. The source of life the Dragon offers to others, it receives too, even when it no longer believes it.
The Red Dragon wavespell
Kin 1 opens a wavespell, a run of 13 days that goes from tone 1 to tone 13. It takes its name from its first seal: it is the Red Dragon wavespell, from Kin 1 to Kin 13.
The Red Dragon and the Magnetic tone
Kin 1 combines a seal, shared with 12 other Kin, and a tone, shared with 19 others. Their pages describe each one in full.
