The Root holds back its pressure on one side and turns it toward a zest for life on the other. The Design adds a domain run without anyone needing to check, and a skill that gauges how far to go without yet having the means to defend it.

Harmonic gates in the Throat

No pair forms a channel here. Yet the two Design gates have their harmonic gates in the same place, the Throat: Gate 45, the Gatherer, for the 21, and Gate 16, Skills, for the 48. A chart that contains either one gives a voice to the will of the 21 or to the skill of the 48.

The angle of the cross is the Left Angle, associated with transpersonal karma. Those with this angle also need others to see their purpose through.

The vat room handed over

For three harvests, the vat room of the family wine estate has been Karine’s: tanks, yeasts, racking schedule. Her father, who used to come down to taste every morning, stopped coming after a month; he asks about the wine at dinner, the way you would ask after a neighbor.

In the spring, a consultant recommends pulling up the whole old plot at the bottom. Karine walks it for a morning and marks eleven vines to replace, not one more. Two years later, the plot is still producing.

A domain held, a measured touch

Whatever is entrusted to this cross stops taking up other people’s time. The 21 treats its domain as its very own; once the boundaries are set, nobody has to go back over it.

The 48 brings the sense of measure: on the spot, it knows what is enough and what would spoil the work, without needing proof to get it right.

Between two tasks, the 52 keeps the pressure intact; the 58 turns it toward what gives the days their color.

The decision left sleeping

A decision already made can lie dormant under the stillness of the 52. The sale of a plot that is too far away, which Karine has known for two years to be necessary, is still waiting for a better moment.

Doubt can also smother the judgment of the 48. A learned recommendation from a self-assured expert leads to pulling up what the walk along the rows had chosen to keep.

Karine has learned to listen to the advice, then to decide on the basis of what the plot had shown her.

The two Root gates can also get in each other’s way. The 58 launches the harvest party on the very evening the 52 was calling for a break, and the fatigue falls on the following week’s racking.

For you, for others

For you

When you stay still, ask yourself whether you are gathering your strength or avoiding a decision already made: the answer tells you whether to keep waiting.

For others

If a business partner has this cross, hand her an entire domain, then stop looking over her shoulder. When she stops in the middle of a task, wait: she is in the process of deciding.

Frequently asked questions about the Left Angle Cross of Demands

Why insist on deciding alone about your own domain?

The 21 gives the will of the Heart a specific domain. Help that was not asked for comes across there as an intrusion, even when it is well meant; outside this domain, the gate demands nothing.

What does the 48 lose when asked to justify itself in advance?

The moment when it judges. The Spleen Center decides during the action, without arguments; proof demanded before acting pushes toward replacing this judgment with a scruple.

Does having two Root gates on the Personality side mean twice the pressure?

No: the 52 and the 58 steer the same push in two directions, reserve for one, zest for life for the other. The Root is defined only by a channel; this cross forms none.

Can a domain be held without constant willpower?

Yes, if it is cut to size. With an open Heart, the 21 does not have a steady strength to draw on; a small area held without fail is better than a large domain announced and then dropped halfway through the season.
