The Root in reserve
Two of the four gates sit on the Personality side in the Root, one that keeps its pressure, the other that spends it. No pair of gates forms a channel. A fixed fate: that is the meaning of the Juxtaposition, which makes the person a bridge between the Right Angle and the Left Angle.
The mill accounts
The accounts of the mill restored by a group of childhood friends fit in a spreadsheet that only Léandre opens. The other two handed it over to him the first winter; since then, they no longer ask what is left, they know the answer would be accurate and straightforward.
For the waterwheel, he had the paddles sanded down to a point he set by eye, then he stopped everyone: one more pass would have thinned the wood. The millstone turned after four summers.

Waiting without losing momentum: the 52 holds back the push, the body still, and the 58 then gives it back as a zest for life, once the task is done.
Two Design gates give this drive a framework, the 21 through its domain, the 48 through its sense of measure. A budget held by a single hand, a job that stops at the right point: those who work with the person do not have to go back over either one.

Without a defined Spleen Center, the fear of those around the person can take the place of instinct. A worried friend is enough to keep a carpenter who botches the finishing work, because changing contractors is more frightening than the shoddy work.
With an open Root, the group’s haste comes on top, amplified. Three weeks before the water is let back in, everything seems urgent; the pause of the 52 gives way. Decisions made to relieve the pressure come undone the following month.

Not in the sense of doubt. The 52 keeps in reserve what the Root pushes, away from the agitation; the body stays still, the tension remains, ready for the right move.
What does the 21 gain with Gate 45?
A voice. Gate 45, the Gatherer, is in the Throat; the Channel of Money (21-45) makes heard what the will has decided for the domain.
Why does the 48 sometimes refuse to do more?
Because it judges during the action. The Spleen Center tells it when the work is right; one more pass, added for reassurance, undoes what had been found.
Can the 58 and the 21 get in each other’s way?
They pull in two directions: the 58 pushes to add an outing, a project, a party; the 21 holds what has been entrusted to it. A season that is too full can eat into this domain, and the Strategy of the type does the sorting.
