A yes can come out before the question is finished, then commit you for a long time. Everything depends on the moment it is born: in response, in the gut, before the good reasons.
The act of the Sacral
The staying power of the Sacral stays at rest until something from outside calls on it. Gate 29 has been given the name of that act: saying yes. Its yes commits this strength; its no counts just as much, since the same center responds both ways.
Discovery comes next, when Gate 46, Determination of the Self, is also in the chart. It belongs to the G Center, to which the system ties love of the body; with it, Gate 29 forms 29-46, the Channel of Discovery. The yes then sets the body in motion; the person learns along the way what no preparation would have shown them.
Choir on Tuesdays
A friend asks Sonia if she would like to sing in the neighborhood choir. She has never read a score. The “yes” comes out almost in spite of her; the following Tuesday, she is in the second row of the altos.

Yes. The Sacral responds both ways. The no of Gate 29 commits as much as its yes: it frees up working energy for something else.
Does the yes of Gate 29 sometimes wait?
A yes blurted out in the middle of a party may need confirming. For a person with a defined Solar Plexus, the gut response keeps its value, but the decision is made once the mood has come back down. 29-46 together with 19-49 is an example: Generator, Emotional Authority.
Is Gate 29 enough to make someone a Generator?
No. As long as Gate 46 is missing, Gate 29 stays outside any channel and leaves the Sacral undefined; only a complete channel defines it. The Type therefore depends on the rest of the chart.
Should you be wary of a yes that commits you for years?
Not when it was born of a response: the strength of the Sacral then supports the commitment for its whole duration. A polite yes commits you for just as long, but without that support: that is the one that weighs on you over the years.
