“What if we moved somewhere else?” The question is spoken aloud before the plan exists. Said in front of others, the urge has already taken its first step.
Desire reaches speech
The name Change refers less to a taste for novelty than to an urge that reaches words. Gate 35 sits in the Throat, where what is inside finds a voice. The urge itself is born in the Solar Plexus, the center of desire and of the emotional wave, where its partner sits: Gate 36, Crisis. With it, Gate 35 completes 35-36, the Channel of Transitoriness: desire then goes straight into speech, and then into action.
This direct link between a motor and the Throat narrows down what the chart can be. On its own, the channel makes a Manifestor; a defined Sacral as well, with 3-60 for example, makes a Manifesting Generator. In both cases, the decision follows the emotional wave, since the Solar Plexus comes first in the order of authorities.
Announcing before knowing
On the highway home, at the third toll booth. Zoé, an accountant, tells her passengers she could see herself becoming an osteopath. No one takes her seriously, and she herself does not yet know if she means it. But the sentence has been said.
Three months later, she has been to open houses at two schools. Between the urge and the announcement, the path was short. Between the announcement and enrolling, her chart asks her to let several moods go by.
The people close to her have learned to listen to her differently. When Zoé says “I could see myself…”, they know a change is in the making, without knowing yet which one will hold.
Putting words to what is changing
An urge for change that stays silent quickly turns into daydreaming. With Gate 35, it is said out loud, and the mere fact of saying it sets it in motion, since the Throat also governs action.
In 35-36, one experience calls for another. The channel does not guarantee that every project succeeds; it lets the urge to try find a way to be said and done.
Changing too fast, or only in words
An announcement made at the top of the wave commits you before the mood has turned. A cook who tells his boss, on the evening of a euphoric service, that he is leaving to open his food truck finds himself at the next low with a resignation he no longer wanted.
For a Manifesting Generator, change also has to go through a Sacral response. A project launched because the idea was appealing, with nothing outside having prompted it, has to be restarted again and again, all the way to frustration.
Without Gate 36, Gate 35 has no motor behind it. If the Throat is defined by 11-56, which connects it to the Ajna, changes are spoken there as ideas. A Projector who announces them without being invited is exposed to the indifference of the people around them, then to bitterness.
For you, for others
For you
Say what changes you long for: keeping quiet won’t make them go away. Just hold back decisions until the same answer comes back from one mood to the next, then inform those they affect.
For others
When this person announces a new project, take it as an urge spoken aloud, not yet as a decision. Ask them a little later how it is going: their answer will tell you whether the idea held.
Frequently asked questions about Gate 35: Change
Is the need for change a form of escape?
Not in itself. With Gate 36, Gate 35 is the gate through which an urge for new experience reaches speech; what makes the difference is the moment of decision. A change decided after several moods has been chosen, whereas a departure launched at the top of the wave may be nothing more than a way of escaping the situation being left behind.
Why is a gate of the Throat called Change?
Because it refers to the moment when the urge for a change becomes speech. The desire comes from the Solar Plexus, through Gate 36; Gate 35 gives it a voice, and the Throat, which governs action as much as speech, sometimes turns it into a first step.
Can you love stability with this gate?
Nothing rules it out. The gate describes how a change reaches speech when one comes along; it does not measure how many changes a life contains.
Should you announce a change before deciding on it?
Voicing an urge does not commit you yet. The decision waits until the urge has held across several moods; once it is made, the Manifestor informs those it affects before acting, and the Manifesting Generator does the same after their Sacral has responded.
