Their budget, their schedule, the way they handle a project: on these, the person wants to decide alone and makes it known. Help they didn’t ask for is received there as an intrusion, however well meant.

More than a matter of money

The channel Gate 21 forms is called the Channel of Money; people readily credit the Hunter/Huntress with a taste for fortune. The gate describes something else: a will to keep control over what is one’s own, money being just one area among others.

The Heart, to which it belongs, is the center of willpower and a motor. Gate 21 gives this willpower an object, a domain to hold. Opposite, in the Throat, its partner The Gatherer, Gate 45, voices what has been decided: the 21-45 thus plugs a motor straight into speech.

The Heart can also be defined without the 21-45, for example by the 37-40, which links it to the Solar Plexus. Willpower is then available on a consistent basis: Gate 21 draws on it to hold its domain, even without Gate 45 to announce it.

The bookshop orders

Aurélie has run a bookshop for ten years. When her business partner offers to take over the orders from publishers to lighten her load, she refuses flatly. She lets him shelve, sell and organize author events; the orders stay hers.

At fourteen, her son asks for his pocket money to be paid once a month instead of every week, on condition that no one asks him what he does with it. He keeps his accounts in a notebook, better than anyone would have believed.

The day her partner places an order without telling her, Aurélie doesn’t argue about the choice of titles. She argues about the fact that someone touched what was hers to handle.

A domain well kept

What Gate 21 takes charge of is kept in hand. Someone with this gate who is entrusted with a budget or a stock manages it like a personal matter; the others can stop thinking about it.

When the Heart is defined, the promise rests on available willpower. Applied to Gate 21’s domain, it makes “I’ll take care of it” words you can believe.

Staying in control also has a clear limit: what is one’s own. Gate 21 doesn’t need to run everything, only what is its to run.

Through Gate 45, if the chart contains it, this willpower finds a voice: what is decided for the domain gets announced to others.

Holding what you didn’t choose

Nobody wanted the association’s treasurer job; it falls to the only member who didn’t say no, a Generator in whom the request stirred no response from the Sacral. He keeps the accounts rigorously, but every board meeting wears him down a little more, until frustration sets in.

The promise can also exceed the willpower available. When the Heart is open, Gate 21 wants to stay in control without being able to count on steady energy: a volunteer commits to sorting the entire stock for the spring rummage sale by herself, realizes halfway through that she won’t manage, and still refuses the help she is offered.

For you, for others

For you

Say out loud what is yours to handle; leave the rest to others without keeping watch over it. A domain that has been announced needs less defending than one that is merely assumed.

For others

Entrust a business partner or colleague with Gate 21 with an entire domain, its limits clearly stated, and don’t go back over their work. To offer help, first ask whether it is wanted.

Frequently asked questions about Gate 21: Hunter/Huntress

How far does what Gate 21 wants to manage extend?

To the limits of its domain. Gate 21 aims at a defined perimeter, its own, and has no need to run what doesn’t concern it. The urge to keep hold of everything can have another source, an open Heart that promises more than its energy allows.

How do you work with someone who has the Hunter/Huntress?

By agreeing from the start on what is theirs. Once the perimeter is set, the person holds it without anyone having to check; it’s stepping in midway that creates friction.

Do The Gatherer and Gate 21 complement each other?

In the 21-45, yes: Gate 45, in the Throat, announces what Gate 21’s willpower has decided. Neither has any partner other than the other.

Does Gate 21’s name, in both masculine and feminine, refer to a gender?

The name keeps both genders. The gate reads the same way in every chart, whatever the person’s gender.
