Chart authorityEmotional, Sacral or Splenic
Where its neighbor, the 20-34, goes from gut to action, this one goes from intuition to speech. A sentence comes out, spot on, just when the situation calls for it, and the woman who said it doesn’t always know where it came from.
Intuition finds its voice
In the Spleen Center, Gate 57, Intuitive Clarity, belongs to what the system describes as an awareness of the moment, able to perceive before the mind has analyzed anything. Gate 20, The Now, sits in the Throat and relates to what is said or done right now.
There is no motor in this channel: the Spleen Center is not one, and neither is the Throat. The speech it carries has nothing to push it; if the chart adds nothing, the person is a Projector, and intuition decides for them, through Splenic Authority. Add the 34-57, which brings the Sacral to the Spleen Center and whose Gate 34 also forms the 20-34 with Gate 20 along the way, and you get a Manifesting Generator with Sacral Authority; add the 32-54, which brings the Root there, and you get a Manifestor.
Not every addition changes the Type. With the 10-20, the G Center joins the Throat in turn, while its Gate 10, together with Gate 57, also forms the 10-57. Still, no motor gets involved: the Type stays Projector, the Authority Splenic.
It shares the Knowing sub-circuit, in the Individual group, with the 1-8 and the 23-43.
A sentence before the argument
On the phone, a friend is enthusiastically describing her job interview. Halfway through the story, the woman with this channel cuts in: “Yes to the job. No to the boss.” She would be hard pressed to say what tipped her off. Her friend will remember it at the first clash with that boss.
In this channel, the intuition of Gate 57 goes straight to the Throat and comes out in words at once, before reasoning has had time to cover it over. When the chart’s Authority is Splenic, decisions follow the same path: the answer of the first instant is the one that counts; the thinking that comes afterward does not replace it.
The right word, now
In a situation playing out in the moment, this channel says what’s needed when it’s needed. A sailing instructor calls the squall and brings the group back in while the sky still looks clear; nobody argues, and the downpour arrives twenty minutes later.
The signal arrives complete, with no demonstration. A single sentence from this channel is sometimes enough to get a situation unstuck.
What it says is useful first of all in the moment. Written down and reread the next day, the warning loses some of its accuracy, since the Spleen Center judges only the present instant and the situation has changed.
Speaking fast, then falling silent
Words that come out without delay don’t pass through diplomacy. The right intuition can land badly, in front of the wrong people or in a way that hurts.
The mind distrusts what it didn’t produce. Lacking an explanation, the woman with this channel ends up keeping what she perceives to herself, or waiting until she can justify it; when the argument finally arrives, the meeting is over and the warning has helped no one.
A fear can take the same route. “I wouldn’t get on that plane” can come from intuition as easily as from an old fear, and in the moment both come out with the same confidence.
In a Projector’s chart, speaking without an invitation is costly. The unrequested warning is ignored, then remembered once it has proved right. Being right after the fact leaves nothing but bitterness.
A written analysis due the following week takes the channel off its home ground. The result disappoints everyone, starting with the woman who wrote it.
For you, for others
For you
Say what you perceive at the moment you perceive it. Accept that you may not be able to explain it. When possible, wait to be asked for your opinion: it will be heard instead of endured.
For others
Take seriously the brief sentence that stops you in your tracks, even with no argument behind it. To ask for their opinion, do it on the spot, when the question comes up, rather than by email several days later.
Frequently asked questions about the Channel of the Brainwave
Does the 20-57 always give Splenic Authority?
Only if no channel defines the Solar Plexus or the Sacral. The first makes Authority Emotional; the second, without the first, makes it Sacral.
How many channels pass through Gate 20?
Three, including the 20-57; the other two join it to Gate 10 and Gate 34. Gate 57 has as many partners, Gates 10, 20 and 34, so these four gates form six channels among themselves.
Can a chart with only the 20-57 act without waiting?
In that case it belongs to a Projector, whose Strategy calls for an invitation before any major commitment. The words can come out on the spot; it’s the commitment that waits.
What’s left with Gate 57 but not Gate 20?
Present in the chart, Gate 57 makes no channel without Gate 20. Paired with Gate 10 or Gate 34, it would form a different one, and the Spleen Center only becomes defined through a complete channel.
