Getting recognition for the worth of an idea, of one’s own work or of a team’s provides the drive; gathering those who will support it follows close behind. The rest takes time: understanding in hindsight, welcoming people when the wish returns.

The instinct that willpower lacks

Gate 26, the Egoist, sits in the Heart; its harmonic gate, Gate 44, Alertness, is in the Spleen Center. A chart whose only channel was the one they form, the Channel of Surrender, would belong to a Projector with Splenic Authority: the signal of instinct would decide there before willpower. Without the 44, the 26 lacks this sorting by instinct: the chart’s authority alone chooses the projects it will defend with the same confidence.

The paper mill in the Vosges

Fernand is a machine operator at a paper mill in the Vosges. When management launches a call for ideas to reduce pulp losses, he submits a two-page proposal and asks, in the last line, to run the trial himself.

At the committee meeting, an engineer has doubts: the proposal comes from the shop floor, not from the engineering department. Fernand replies that he has watched the pulp go down the drain every night for eleven years, whereas no one in the office has ever seen it go. He is granted six weeks.

The next day, the log sheet he pinned up in the cafeteria already bears the initials of all three night shifts.

A value stated, people gathered around

An idea born far from the offices gets its chance when someone knows how to say what it is worth, and what they themselves are worth to carry it out. That is the talent of the 26 at the Personality Sun; Gate 45, The Gatherer, at the Earth, turns this success into a shared cause that others rally around.

In the Design, Gate 47, Realization, and Gate 22, Openness, take their time. One understands late what the years on the shop floor have taught; the other lets colleagues in on days when the mood is welcoming.

A promise bigger than the reserve

Selling puts willpower on the line. To keep a project, the person may announce results sooner than their strength allows. The deadline is then met at the expense of their nights, and the morning shift finds them asleep in the locker room.

The 45 can also gather more people than the trial needs. Three night shifts signed the sheet in the cafeteria, but the trial only has room for one; those who were rallied without being given anything to do hesitate at the next call.

When a channel formed elsewhere defines the Solar Plexus, where the Design’s 22 sits, the decision becomes emotional. A proposal written on an evening of enthusiasm may no longer convince its author a week later; defending it too soon means promising on behalf of a conviction that is still shifting.

For you, for others

For you

Say what your project is worth and what you are worth to carry it out, without scaling it down to seem modest. Then count what each promised deadline will take from your nights.

For others

With a team leader whose chart contains this cross, discuss the project he defends rather than the confidence with which he defends it. That confidence says nothing about his pride. When he promises a tight deadline, ask him what it will cost him.

Frequently asked questions about the Right Angle Cross of Rulership

Is defending your own worth a form of selfishness?

No. The 26 is not about moral selfishness: it watches over the worth of what the person supports, a project, a piece of work or their own place; what it defends also benefits those around them. The Right Angle of this version, described as a personal destiny, does not change that.

Does a day when you do not want to see anyone jeopardize a project you are defending?

Not the project. The Design’s 22 sets its welcome by mood; the value the 26 defends does not depend on it. Keeping the meetings that call for warmth for open days is enough to reconcile the two.

What is distinctive about the Rulership cross that starts from Gate 26?

It begins with a value. Getting a project recognized is the first move; welcoming people, which leads the 22 version, only comes in here on the Design side.

What role does Gate 47 play in a cross that defends projects?

The role of hindsight. The projects defended, successful or not, eventually form a readable whole. This reading, which no one suggested, comes when a detail connects the pieces, and gives the talent of the 26 a surer foundation.
