An opinion is built step by step, each link ready to be shown to whoever disputes it. Upstream, an instinct has already spotted where things snag, and the pressure of the Root carries the fix through to the end. This reasoning comes from Gate 17, Opinion.

Judgment, without the Sun’s gate

Two of the cross’s gates form the Channel of Judgment on their own: the 18, Correction, at the Personality Earth, and the 58, Vitality, on the Design side. The Root and the Spleen Center are therefore defined in every chart of this version.

Gate 17 stays outside this channel, in the Ajna, where opinion takes shape without supplying anything to act with. With the 18-58 as the only channel, you have the chart of a Projector with Splenic Authority: the decision is made at first contact; the reasoning of the 17 comes afterward, without replacing it.

This cross belongs to the Right Angle, which means a personal destiny.

The order of the rounds

The general meeting of the vegetable growers’ cooperative has to set a new order for the Thursday delivery rounds. Gustave, who coordinates deliveries, has his opinion and lays it out in four steps: the grocery stores that open first, the valley road closed to trucks that day, the small van that does not keep the cold well, then the order he draws from all that.

A partner disputes the third point: the van was repaired in January. Gustave crosses out the line and redoes the end of the reasoning in front of the room: only two villages change places. No one needed to reject the rest.

On Saturday, a volunteer asks him why the crates slide to the back of the truck. Gustave points to the spot without hesitating, a wedge that is too short, then spends the morning sawing new ones, whistling.

Correcting without throwing everything out

With this cross, a correction can be discussed without collapsing entirely. The 18 points to the spot before any analysis; the 17 turns it into a reasoning cut into steps, where a wrong step can be removed without taking the others with it.

What has been spotted does not remain a mere remark. Through the Channel of Judgment, the Vitality of the 58 goes into the fix, which becomes a project carried out with pleasure to its end.

The 52, for its part, lets some of this push rest. Between two projects, there is no hurry to open a third.

When the argument gets ahead of the body

A complete line of reasoning looks like a decision. Yet in a chart where the Spleen Center decides, the first contact with a proposal had already said yes or no, and three pages of arguments written afterward can cover up that first judgment instead of shedding light on it.

The opinion of the 17 can also arrive before anyone looks for it. A solid conclusion about another team’s schedule, delivered without an invitation, closes the ears of those who would have listened a month later, on the day they asked themselves the question.

The way out lies in the Strategy of the chart’s Type. For a Projector, the opinion does well to wait until it is asked for; it then arrives at the moment someone can use it.

For you, for others

For you

Let your Authority decide, then build the argument. A complete line of reasoning does not replace your agreement. Save it for the person who asks you how you decided.

For others

When a partner has this cross, dispute one specific step of his opinion, not the whole opinion: he will rework it with you.

Frequently asked questions about the Right Angle Cross of Service

Who decides, the reasoning of the 17 or the first look of the 18?

The chart’s Authority. The Channel of Judgment defines the Spleen Center; without a defined Sacral or Solar Plexus, the decision falls to it, at first contact. The Ajna does not carry authority in such a chart: it gives shape to what has been decided.

What is Gate 52 for in such an active cross?

For holding back. The 52 keeps in reserve what the Root pushes to spend; its harmonic gate, Gate 9, Focus, is in the Sacral and does not belong to the cross. Even without it, this calm leaves time to see whether a fix is wanted.

Does the pleasure of repairing come from the 18?

From the 58. The 18 points to what could work better; the Vitality of the 58, connected to it by the channel, makes the repair a moment you enjoy living. Without the 58, the 18 would see the same flaw, without that drive to fix it.

Is the reasoning still useful once the first look has passed?

Yes: it makes the decision shareable. What the 18 saw without reasons, the 17 translates into steps that others can follow, dispute or take up without the person.
